The stuff that merchants put on display which you can steal/take, does it respawn? And if so, how long does it take?

I don't think display items respawn, only their inventory does as far as I know.

Yeah, I had an experience like that once. I became arch-mage and was allowed to have new quarters to live in, As I'm exploring my new living space I see tons of gems potions and weapons lying around so I immediately pick them all up. Then when I looked around it didn't look as epic as it did.

I think it's about 2 skyrim days.I myself don't bother stealing their stuff cos' I keep getting caught and arrested all the time.

I prefer selling my excess stuff like looted armor and weapons to the merchants. But since they have a "gold limit" or whatsoever, that's where the 2 days waiting time comes in.

You sure? I had somewgat of an idea that the items I stole from Lucas in riverwood had come back, but since this hasnt happened in Oblivion, and nobody spoke about it, I thought it mustve been my imagination...

I'm sure that items do respawn as a few tmes I've used Unrelenting Force in inns and in the Jarls hall, you know, for the lol's. A few days later all the stuff was back on the tables.

Also I have stole loads of ignots and leather straps from outside forges and they also seem to come back after a few days / a week.

I cleared out the shelves from the alchemist in Whiterun several in game days ago and her shop is still empty. Makes me feel bad when she speaks to me so nicely :sadvaultboy:

I don't know about houses but for dungeons, the items on the shelves do respawn. Even the numerous dwemer junk littered on the floor respawn, in one dwemer ruin I went to.

I've had the ingots in riverwood's blacksmith respawn though, and i think dragonsreach in whiterun respawned as well. But apparently its not the same for shops? Because i stole her items, and i waited 2 days and they didnt respawn. lol

Might depend where you wait as well. If you waited in the shop or in the city it might not happen. I normally find its after I've sent a few days in the wild hunting / questing and come back to the city that items have been replaced.
