Biggest problem with Skyrim

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:05 pm

I love Skyrim... I really do! It is probably the best game I have ever played! It is only out a little over a week and I have played over 30 hours already!
That is a pretty big investment of my time but there is one slight thing that bothers me. At the start of the game for example, during my first few levels I used destruction magic and assigned 4 of my hard earned perks to the destruction skill tree. I have since totally abandoned destruction magic and have settled into a heavy armour warrior type character.
I realise now that there are only 50 perks available for me to pick out of 250 and it looks like I have wasted some. I wish there was some way to reassign perks, even if it cost me a ton of gold or a very difficult quest, because I can't go back and start the game again at this stage.

Haha not everyone plays the way we obsessives do. Some people prefer to stick to a character. It would've been nice to be able to respec somehow, as I've made a couple faux pas that i'd erase on my main character as well.

I restarted. Twice. Each with at least 20 hours on them. Anyway, you get perks even after level 50 I believe. It is just insanely difficult or expensive to level up your skills at that point. Maximizing all of your skills brings you to level 81 I heard. So there are 80 perks I think you can earn

Most people make perk mistakes, and I don't see a problem with the game not allowing you to reallocate them.

If the character was focused on destruction magic, and decided to drop magic and learn to be a warrior, then thats what they did. It would seem stupid to me to allow a character to forget things they have learnt and swap it for new knowledge.

Embrace the wasted perks, they are part of your character background.

I'd have a problem if we COULD replace them as we want.

At one moment you have mastered all magic schools. Then you are out of mana. Quickly open menu and replace them all into full warrior stuff and put your heavy armor on and use your greatsword. Now the combats over. Open menu and swap them for a full assassin charcater.

See what I mean? The whole role-play aspect of this RPG would be taken away, and it bothers you it exists? :/

I don't want a way to freely swap perks around to create completely different characters, but simply a way to earn only a few perks to be changed, and this can only happen once! I really am tempted to start again but at the same time I really like my character at the minute except for a small handful of wasted perks.

I think it's dumb to want to change who your character is. On the other hand I do think you should be aloud one change up to a certain point. Maybe you can reset perks one time until you reach level 5 then after that your stuck with what you've chosen. Also I think if they did ever do that it should be some side quest to do so. With that said its juts better a perk reset is not in the game. These games are already catering to the noobs enough. All these things they add in an RPG are great for new people to the these games but really take the fun out for us elders. Game developers are giving the easy way out too much these days.

Come on people... how many times... where did this info came from? 50 is not a cap you keep getting perks after level 50.

Can we sticky this somehow? Every few threads someone says 50 perk cap...

Ok, sorry, it's 80 or 81 but after 50 it becomes incredibly hard to level up I believe!
