Do items stick to the level you found them at?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 2:57 pm

Ok I really hated it in Oblivion when I got an awesome item, only to find out that I got it at a low level and the item (which was supposed to be great) ended up svcking when I reached a high level, because it was stuck at the level I found it at.

So yeah... I'm wondering if I have to wait until I'm like lvl 50 before I can do any daedric quests so I don't screw up any of the rewards?

As far as I know, the weapons and armor don't work like that. I've heard something similar to what you're talking about in regards to the Thieves Guild, but don't have first hand experience with the issue. The Daedric weapons all have a base attack that goes up as you level up the governing weapon skill, just like normal weapons.

All the awesome rewards from Thieves Guild are level scaled. Sword, bow, suit of armor.
It looks like you have to be lvl 35 to get the best armor and probably 41 to get the best sword & bow.

There's also a shield from Solitude (from the Jarl quests) and an anti-dragon sword from the MQ that's similar scaled.

I think daedric stuff does scale because this daedric mace I got did 18 damage for one of my characters and 22 for the other.

Are you sure the difference wasn't because they had different levels for that particular skill? Essentially, all weapons are scaled to the level of the skill they belong to. Basically, a steel sword does more damage at 50 One Handed than at 15 One Handed.

well I got the mace of molag bal on 2 chars, for one the enchantment does 5 more dmg to both stamina and magicka, and the sanguine rose summons a dremora for 60 secs on one char and 120 on another.

Sadly looks like items are scaled.

So I guess I shouldn't do any daedric quests till max level to be safe.
