Really Bethesda?

The Rueful Axe doesn't count?!!!!!!!!!!!! I just did this quest and killed Barbas and it doesn't count?! Well, I have to say I'm with the OP this really svcks. The official guide said something like not killing Barbas gives a leveled amount of gold why would anyone think that the Daedric artifact doesn't count for the Daedric artifact quest? I guess I can't mess up anymore of those quests.

What do you get if you don't kill Barbas that counts?

EDIT: I have multiple saves but I'm pretty sure I already saved over this one. So mad right now.

You know, I think you might probably get a Daedric artifiact from the Daedra who gave the quest, people would think that the Daedric Artifact doesn't count for the Daedric Artifact quest because the 'Daedric Artifact' isn't a Daedric Artifiact and you probably get the real Daedric Artifact off the DAEDRA who gave you the Daedric Artifact quest, you probably get the Daedric artifact if you don't kill Barbas.

Daedra Daedra Daedra.

I just assumed that the game was making me make the evil choice to get "the reward". When dealing with Daedra I assumed I was supposed to make the evil choice. What about the Rueful Axe doesn't scream "this is the Daedric artifact!" I know better now, hopefully I'm not out of the achievement. I hear you can miss one.

The official guide does point out somehwere that the axe doesn't count as an artifac for the achievo. I remember reading it in the guide when I was flipping through it, but I don't remember if it was in the daedric quest sections, or the part that goes over the achievements.

I have sunk so many hours into the game known as Skyrim it is just ricockulous, I took a week off school because I couldn't bear the thought of not completing all the guilds.

Yup I'm pretty much addicted, and for that i salute Bethesda, very rarely have I played a game as amazing and perfect as this, and I play a ton of games.

But what I want to slap Bethesda in the balls for is this, I set out to get the Oblivion Walker achievement which requires you to collect 15 daedric artifacts. So for hours and hours and hours I set out to do all the daedric quests and accumulate a hoard of artifacts.

After I had collected all of them I had a boner, but no achievement. I started to panic and searched the web for an answer, turns out during the quest 'A Daedra's Best Friend' your not supposed to kill Barbas as he gives you the artifact, I killed him and assumed the Rueful Axe that you are given was indeed a Daedric artifact.

I cannot tell you how much I raged when I found this out, all those hours of grinding and grinding to get the 15 artifacts and the rueful axe does not count? How the hell was I supposed to know that?

Seriously WTF Bethesda? WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME! .....I WOULD HAVE HAD YOUR BABBIES!!!!!!

FML, PLEASE PATCH THIS [censored] TODD HOWARD, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :brokencomputer:

UH Hello??? Have you ever played a game called Morrowind or Oblivion??? Well if you have, then you would've known that killing certain NPC's = CAN'T COMPLETE QUEST CHAIN - DUH!!! And it's probably too late now to summon him or resurrect him to get the achievement.

Did you use Oghma Infinium?

Because After I used it, it was gone.

So by that, you have 1 less Daedric Artifact.

I got the Achievement simply by doing the quests.

And if you think back to Oblivion... and Morrowind...

You have always got the mask of CV, its the whole reason I did his quest really early on in the game,

You do realize that if you have a house and a library, you can use Oghma Infinium, an infinite amount of times. Hence the HINT in its name - just an aside...

Yeah sometimes you make choices in games like this and end up wishing you chose diferently - at least the Daedric that give you choices usually do try to go out of their way to spell out which is the Daedric artifact by having it have the name of the Daedric prince in it.

But come on, they were pretty generous trying to warn you on the Claviscus Vile quest, - even though he's supposed to be far better at deceiving people. Not only does Barbas warn you not to make any deals with him - the axe is called "the rueful axe." It's name means regret - perhaps this is less a reference to its history and more a suggestion of how one might feel about keeping it.

What about the Rueful Axe doesn't scream "this is the Daedric artifact!"

Really? How about the name?
