Companions and NOT being a Werewolf

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 5:25 pm

I think it's great that Bethesda gave us the opportunity to be a werewolf, but I like to play these games as a hero so that's not something I really want to do. As far as I can tell, I can play the Companions storyline up to the point where I go back to the guild after proving my valor (which gets me the skyforged sword that my guide the werewolf drops) but then not go back. If I continue the storyline, I'd have to undergo the ceremony.

Here's the question. Is there another way? Can I just refuse to undergo the ceremony? Will they accept my refusal? I wouldn't mind helping out with other quests that don't involve assassination or going after the silver hand. My suspicion is that lots of werewolves running around is a bad thing, so killing off the organization which is trying to control them seems like a bad idea.

Thanks.

First of all, the Silver Hand are not entirely benevolent. They torture, punish, and brutally murder werewolves. In contrast to the Vigilants of Stendarr, who kill immediately and painlessly.

Second of all, you can cure yourself of being a werewolf, or never use the ability. You aren't forced to enter Beast Form at any time.

I know its hard to believe, but some people have not played the game yet and do not wish aspects of it to be spoiled for them.

Thanks for putting spoilers in your title, [censored] stain. Some of us went to do another faction during Whiterun to focus on the Companions later.

I wish people would learn to read. There is a forum for spoilers, and a sticky in this forum saying "DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THIS FORUM".

You can just not become one. The quest lines end there but hey that's what you wanted anyway. They only let werewolves into their inner circle.

Spoiler
Listen to the dialogue. The one woman remarks on how a dead Werewolf in the cell went completely feral; forgot the human aspect of itself. The Silver Hand are just killing dangerous animals. Skjor was killed quickly and painlessly, though. They wouldn't have had much of a choice in battle but to put him down instead of prolonging it.

OP should get a warning

The only reason you'd want to do the companions to the end is because of the throphies/achievements or you honestly care about the companions and you are willing to sacrifice your humanity for the guild.

Why the distinction? Are werewolves bloodthirsty beasts deserving of death or misunderstood rascals that can only be murdered?

Spoiler

I know, but the Vigilants are doing everything the Silver Hand is doing, and more. They're also doing it MUCH better, considering they're powerful mages that are more organized and have better equipment.

So, while I'm not condoning the deaths of the Silver Hand, they aren't entirely innocent, or necessary.

Werewolves are demi-human beings of a variety of personalities and moral philosophies, as demonstrated by the game.

It is no more moral to go around killing and torturing all of them than it is to kill and torture all of the elves. Perhaps even less so. Because the Altmer are totally jerks. And the Bosmer look at me funny.

the world is grey. Pure good or evil doesn't exist, it depends on how you percieve motives.
