Why mod (cheat) game?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:42 pm

If I were too mod the game(which I won't bother too learn since I'm a console-guy) I would mod too add content, rebalance certain skills, cap the smithing improvement at 100+ corresponding perk, make a non-Dovahkiin intro too the game for those who do not want to be the Dovahkiin in RP, allow the player too craft Skyforge Steel at the Skyforge, etc.

I can't, however, speak for what others would do.

Why people use mods that affect gameplay, like triple damage or infinite money and such, or why would you want to display all locations on the map? When you play MMORPG you could obviously use it as an advantage over other players, but in single player game like Skyrim... what's the point? Im not talking visual mods or UI/Performance improvements, these are obvious.

Dunno, I've never used any mods like that. In fact, the vast majority of mods aren't like that.

I use mods to make the game closer to what I feel it should be (note that this is a matter of opinion, which is why different people use different mods). For example, the lockpicking minigame in Oblivion svcked ass, so I got a mod to replace it with the stats-based lockpicking of Morrowind. There weren't enough bows in Morrowind, so I got a mod to add more and better bows. I thought level scaling was ridiculous in Oblivion, so I got OOO.

I've never used cheat mods, though.
