CS Warning messages unreliable?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:45 am

I was always relying on the CS to show me if one of my animation is badly build.

But now it's on and off. I didn't get the warnings when I checked before my release, I got the warning a few days ago, but since then I tried 10, 15 times, with OBSE and without, with differend esp loaded, with different NPCs. No warning at all (although those bad animations are still there in _male).

I didn't do anything to the ConstructionSet.ini. The only paramater which seens to be related is "bDisableWarning=0".

Does anyone have an idea what could cause that. For me this is a very important check. THere is no other way I can easily find out mis-build animations.

I am not sure, but I think that if you select "Yes to All" then any subsequent errors won't be reported.

I have found that you won't see these warnings unless the CS tries to render the creature that's using the animation. Now I'm using the CSE, so things might be a little different. It's been so long since I've used the base CS, I honestly don't remember :) But I had something similar with some errors in a weapon mesh. If I looked at the weapon itself, I didn't get any errors, but if I opened the cell that had the NPC's with the weapons equipped, I got the errors. So I suggest opening the cell where these NPC's or creatures are rendered and see if the errors are displayed then.

You are totally right. CS does only issue warnings when it has to use the files.

For animations it's different to meshes. They are needed when you tick full view of an NPC. And I found out that warnings for all NEEDED animations are issued. The problem with CS and animations is that CS will not show any powerattack or skillpowerattack in the animation preview. Hence these files are not loaded, and no warning shown. The files in question were all power attacks, so no warnings there. For all other bad files I have seen the warnings long ago.

Thanks. You brought me on the right track.
