TES V assumption...

Post » Thu Oct 01, 2009 6:05 pm

Ok it seems pretty much all the video games made for TES are made right before an era ends. Pretty much every video game. I don't know about battlespires...what era was that? And the Redguard Adventures where right before the 2nd era ends. So my question is this if oblivion was pretty much the "last days of the third era" quoted from the emperor himself wouldn't TES V be based off the END of the 4th Era and not the beginning of it? Or is Bethesda going to take a different turn since the series has gotten so popular and kind of do things a little different?

Questions conerns comments?

I think the novels already cut well into the 4th era

Redguard and Oblivion are the only two games that occurs right before the end of an era.

Only half. Personally, I hope they don't write off the era immediately. Two books, yeah, but only one game in the entire era? Needs more done, especially considering the book has this era slated to be quite the ****show.

Well, the eras have been getting shorter and shorter, and the last one was just over four hundred years, so maybe  I'm guessing the fourth is only going to be about 300-350 if they keep the same trend going. Though eventually they'd have ten year eras :P

That's true. While Morrowind wasn't that

It's pretty hard to judge exactly how far into the 4th Era it is if we don't know how long that era will be, since it seems that eras in the Elder Scrolls don't have a set length of time, and just change when some sort of major status quo changing event occurs. There's also no guarentee that future games will take place after the novels, I could certainly see Bethesda doing that and using the novels as a transition between Oblivion and future games, but maybe we'll instead get a game that takes place some time during the intervening years and events that take place in it will lead up to some plot points in the novels. That's just me guessing, though, I really can't say.

sadly with the new novels you can already tell that tamerial is screwed. If they do make a new game be expected to be in the middle of a warzone.

The four main Elder Scrolls games were set in the same era...

And the book only goes a small 40 years into the fourth.

The release of the book said that the next game will be in 4E 200. I think the books were just a way for Beth to keep us interested while they spend a [censored]load of time making an awesome TESV

Hey there

Please can we keep to http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1066800? It makes the place awfully cluttered if we don't.

Thanks
