Anyone NOT struggling with Magic?

I'm using 96% destruction mana reduction. The summons are cheap all things considered.

It's four pieces of gear with 24% each. I guess there's a 50% reduction in there from the perks too. Which would make it 98% if you want to include that.

-.-. Its stupid, I always based my strategy on mana regeneration.

If not being able to step into a room and destroy everything around you is a problem

I actually did that. For the Dark Brotherhood. One of the kills, I was supposed to poison the target. Script glitch prevented his death. So I tossed a dual-cast, full-powered fireball right into his face and *everybody* in the room was blown away from the table and killed.

It was [censored] glorious!

I read alot of bad things about casting spells when you reach higher level, how you struggle.

Now.. Is there anyone else that can say they arn't struggling on Adept with magic at higher level and is having fun? If not, don't say a word.

You can't really struggle with this game on Adept difficulty, unless you are trying to struggle.

Try Master difficulty. Destruction definitely pales to other direct damage dealing methods.

I am playing a pure mage currently and having a blast. I didn't go the pure Destruction route though. As a Breton Witch, she runs around in mage robes casting stoneflesh and a bound sword. Tougher fights she summons an atronach and blasts them a frostbite while swinging the bound sword. Level 24 currently and having a great time. Just can't get surprised by sabre cats as without that mage armor up.... pretty squishy.

Overall? Not a chance. Illusion and conjuration are absurdly powerful even if bland and boring with their limited spell lists. destruction is weak without gaming the mana reduction enchants, even then its damage is low but you can toss enough spells is quick succession that things drop left and right. I don't think it is really fun to pound 10 spells into one target and have it still standing when it really can;t do anything to me thanks to stagger, but oh well.

Level 43 and I've given up on Destruction in favor of Conjuration. With a Bound bow I am able to one shot sneak attack mammoths, which also auto soul steals; making my life infinitely easier. The bound weapons scale with my level, so every time I level up I do more damage. Archery perks further my damage, a few points in sneak gives me a x3 sneak attack; best of all: archery enchantments up my damage output opposed to destruction enchantments that only allow for more casting. The lack of AoE hasn't shown to be any kind of downside, 2 dremora lords and my bow keeps the killing spree on par with what I was doing with fireballs, except there's no innocent victims with precision arrows. . . It's almost disgusting how much better conjuration is compared to destruction.

Yes well, the magic issue is, well an issue lol. Bethesda slightly changed the magic mechanic here from the last 2 games. No creating your own spells = skill not "directly" influencing. But I suspect that this will be remedied when the Construction Set is released. I'll do further research and see if there isn't any kind of special "tweaking" to be made to make this a more "efficient" school to play with.

Conjuration, 0 mana cost in Destruction. Any remaining mana is mainly used in Restoration (not much use out of Alteration/Illusion).

You can't get the 0 mana armor at the start, but I also have one-handed raised up pretty high. Dragon armor + Breton magic resist with the 0 mana destruction spells is pretty powerful.
