Official Explanation on Difficulty

Hello! I've been playing Skyrim on Master (hardest) difficulty for a long time now, but it is just now getting a bit too difficult. Some battles take ridiculous lengths of time. I'm a one-handed heavy armor sword tank/fighter.

Anyway, so I'm considering reducing the difficulty so the game isn't quite as repetitive. However, before I can make up my mind I want an official explanation on how changing difficulty effects the game. I've found a LOT of speculation from people on numerous forums, but no official explanations. I checked the game manual and didn't find the information there either. I'm assuming the developers or game publishers have explained EXACTLY how difficulty effects the game. I don't need vague explanations like "it makes it harder/easier" or speculation like "i think it just makes enemies hit harder and have more hp." I want a factual explanation, so please don't reply unless you know with complete certainty or can link me where the official explanation can be found.

Thank you for your time!
