Question About Mehunes Dagon? : The Elder Scrolls Series Discussion

I heard Somewhere that dagon use to be a noble person that attempted to save the world from alduin...After awhile alduin cursed and forced him to be the Lord of destruction...Is this true? Also i heard that Dagon in all the games was attempting to halt alduins prophecy from comeing true, Could this be true?

Yeah there's a nordic legend that Dagon was once a kind of friendly trickster demon.

This question has been asked a lot recently.

What we know is that there is a story implying that there is/are/were spirits known as Leaper Demons who ran about saving bits of the Mundus from the devouring jaws of Alduin at the end of each cycle of existence, so that hopefully they could store enough away eventually that Alduin would not be able to finish his meal and the cycle would be broken. They had a king - the Leaper Demon King - and a bargain with someone known as the Greedy Man, who helped (instigated) their endeavors. The story goes that Alduin eventually caught on to their scheme and cursed the Leaper Demon King out of his true self, renamed him Dagon, and doomed him to destroy all the bits of the world that he had stored away.

Thus comes Mehrunes Dagon, Daedra of destruction and natural disasters. Or so we think; there are holes.

Not if he was Dagon, who now has zero ties to Mundus since his link was severed.

doubt it he really doesnt like nords or skyrim, place he was born...or close enough. I don't know that dagon is actively trying to stop aludiun so much as destroy the left over kalpa bits he and his kin stored away, after all being a kindly leaper king has to be way funner than fugly god of war

Unless the main quest has us undoing his curse, so he can hide Mundus from Alduin again.

I dunno where you got that idea. As far as I know, Dagon still has as much connection to Mundus as any Daedra. Elucidate me with a source if I'm wrong, though.

I really hope it's not that. Dagon's been big in quite a few main quests.

I'd like that to happen, but I doubt it since right now, he's cursed to destroy the very pieces of kalpas he tried to save. And since we sealed the barriers, he will never be able to do so. Alduin set everything against dagon to ever return to his original role.

One thing doesn't quite make sense for me. Wouldn't Alduin -want- it to be easier for Dagon to destroy the pieces he tried to save so he can eat the world a bit easier every time?
