DLC: War of the Gods (or TES VI)

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:40 am

This is an idea for DLC - or maybe a really, really ambitious modder: war of the gods. Can I get a lore check please? Would it work?

Yep, the gods of Tamriel are at war with each other for some reason or other (perhaps because you killed Alduin?) and you must choose whose champion you will be. First, there will be the issues involved. One set of gods is on one side of some issue or other, while the other gods are on the other side. So there would be god-teams. So you'd have to decide which side you wanted to fight for. Then you'd have to pick the god or daedra that you want to fight for, to become their champion. When you become their champion, they bestow all sorts of boons on you and powers of various kinds.

Then you lead the people of Tamriel into a giant war, because the gods don't fight themselves, but through their armies and champions. And the other side will of course have their own champion, who will lead their armies against yours.

As you progress and win battles, the other gods on your side will perhaps add to your powers or give you tokens of some kind.

And when the war is over, when you've finally won - you ascend and become a god(ess), just like Talos.

Would this work w/ the lore?

Nope.

You could twist it into sort of fitting (either by making it Daedra instead of gods or by setting it during the Dawn between multiple views of the gods), but you'd have to change or remove elements.

I'm flexible. Just the basic idea, not the details. Can it be done?

Hrmm...seems too much. Doubt you could do an accurate representation of this within the game mechanics...then there are the lore problems. Plus it would have to encompass all of Tamriel as Tamriel is the 'Arena'.

Wouldn't have to encompass all of Tamriel. Could take place at a specified location.

Illiad, anyone?

The Aedra (Gods) don't really war with each other, and their half dead anyway. Daedra on the other hand have their various conflicts and trials with each other, but the God's of TES are not really well related to the God's of the Greeks.

Read the story twice. Second time I understood it much better. Still not sure what your point is. Sorry!

You wanted a war between the gods.

There has been one. Just when the world was just created by nine gods, they fractured and there were nine times nine gods. Each god imagining the other eight on their side. They went to war along with their people. Changed a few continents actually.

OH! Was that...in there somewhere and I missed it? How did I miss that?

I didn't just want a war between the gods, I wanted that to be the scenario of the game. Course, the more I learn about what's going on in this game, the more I realize that that is the scenario of this game. Kind of.

Thanks for the help! It's nice when lore giants can look kindly down on us lil' noobs.

...You can't learn anything, unless you ask. The doors are always open here, it's just that not a lot of people like libraries.

Learning is dog [censored] which is absent desire. And if there is no desire to search the Library, and we can't receive an answer, without impulsively groveling to the high caste, then this place is also worth less than a hollow penny.

Proweler is not uppity, by the way. Not at all what I'm talking about. (No more than us.) I'm only distressed by the anointed figures, with stars weightier than their words' service. We are all students of lore, here.

Well it ain't immediately obvious. The sticky guide has somethings for you to read, check part under genesis.

That said, what you're planning to do sounds huge. Break it down into parts, really small parts and start there, one part at a time. You won't get it done otherwise.

Perhaps just the churches going to war with each other believing that if they destroy the other gods followers their god will become all powerful.

It was not self pity. I was thanking him for not being arrogant and looking down on me for failing to understand something that he does understand. Surely you've run across someone or two like that around here.

Thanks! But I'm not planning on doing anything. I was speculating about what a cool DLC would look like or maybe TES VI. I think what's most likely is that the DLC will be that island, Caecilly or however you spell it.
