Has anyone actually received a gift from their spouse?

Still not sure how to go about getting a spouse...

Outside of the homecooked meals and the gold here and there, I haven't received anything.

I wouldn't expect anything from marriage until an overhaul mod comes out.

But I keep seeing stuff on the web where it states plainly that you get gifts as well as the other stuff. Very confusing.

Is the only reason for marriage the shop your spouse starts? I mean it's nice to come home to Aela and collect money from the store every so often, but other than that I'm not sure what the other benefits are. Is there something I'm missing?

googlefox: Nope, just wait a day after you tell the guy you want to get married and then have your wedding. They'll show up out of nowhere that day.

I'm treating Lydia as my fiance / battle maiden until they fix the bug that is preventing us from wedding.

I take good care of her, and she carries my burdens.

I wish Bethesda didn't limit who you could marry. They should've let us marry any named character and actually have some useful things besides gold and home-cooked meals.
