Unable to connect to friends Co-Op Games

Post » Fri Oct 02, 2009 1:44 pm

Tried playing a Co-Op game and we were unable to connect, 4 different people and no one could connect to anyone. Which ports need to be opened for this to work?

Same issue here. "Server not responding" on co-op attempt. Someone on the Steam boards suggested forwarding 27015-27016, but that hasn't worked, nor has enabling DMZ.

Really liking the game otherwise, though.

My friends and I are also having this problem. It always just says "Server Not Responding". Unsure if we're doing something wrong, or if something needs fixing.

Me and my buddy were having the same issue. He couldn't even get a timed out message when trying to connect to me, but I could at least start the process of joining him until I timed out. We're both behind routers, although he is cable modem -> router -> comptuer, where I am cablemodem + router -> computer. I think it's my crappy cable modem/router unit that's screwing it all up. So, instead of him connecting to me, he plugged directly into his modem and viola! I was able to connect to him.

I have Charter internet with a combo cablemodem/router. svcks, but at least I can connect and most importantly - PLAY WITH MY FRIEND!!!

Same issue. DMZ and connecting directly to the modem has no effect.

Errr, same problem here, was hopin to play with a friend of mine on his break, but that isn't going to happen now, hopefully later it will be resolved? since I can't exactly plug directly into my modem do to my network.

If anyone finds a work around, this topic should be stickied until the real issue is fixed, lol.

I was able to have a friend join my game after I port forwarded the following ports to my machine, 27015, 27016 and 8766.

If you guys are trying to play a private match I think theres something bugged with them. If the hosts ports are forwarded you can join a private match by going to Freeplay then clicking on Direct connect And enter the IP of your friends server and the steam port 27015 and if their ports are forwarded you should get in. If the person who is hosting is on your friends list you can get the IP by Clicking server info in the drop down menu this also works for people on the same server as the host.

Does not work. Mr. Wedgwood needs to get a million Wedgies for releasing a utterly broken game that I'm now stuck with. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Wrong. The game is not connecting in CO-OP (Timed Out) for some people even if they had forwarded the 3 ports.

I forwarded correctly the 3 ports, and my friend too, and we're still cannot connect to each other. We have also checked that our firewall has Brink as Allowed Program.

Please Splash Damage team, fix this bug ASAP... Thanks

I suspect that a lot of the people that can't host are connected wirelessly.

My friends and I had the same issue @ release. We got around port forwarding issues by making sure the host goes into his router settings and setting the DMZ to be the IP(internal IP, not ISP assigned one) address on the machine that is hosting. Ever since, we've had zero co-op issues. Hope this helps and good luck.
