You cruel, cruel man

I may be making an ass out of you and me, but I smell MK's work in here.

So I'm sure some of you have found http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Brand-Shei in Riften, the dark elf with the strange name. He explains how he was raised by an Argonian family who found him as a baby wrapped in some sort of Telvanni cloth (I wish I had some exact reference which may be helpful to TIL if they haven't found it already). He says he was looking for clues about his past.

Don't know how many people have stumbled upon the shipwreck of The Pride of Tel Vos (this is a little ways Northeast-East of Winterhold, about two islands out), where you can find his mothers journal. In it, she talks first about how she was looking for young Brand-Shei, and then describes the "Fall of House Telvanni," where she was in the basemant as Argonians stormed some sort of Telvanni town. She gave the baby, who is now Brand-Shei, some sort of name which I forget, and as a final note states that he is the last living heir to House Telvanni. This was heart-rending for me, but ever since the Thalmor came along I'm starting to see the true face of the mer.

Now, most of you ignored that and joined the thieves guild, which involves an initiation quest where you are to steal a ring and place it in Brand-Shei's pockets. The goal of this quest is to put Brand-Shei out of business. The guards follow suit and arrest him shortly after the quest is completed.

Really? You're going to grab the hearts of all Dunmeri sympathizers with this innocent trader who is the last living heir to House Telvanni and crush them by throwing him in jail? I know the plan was to "take Morrowind in back of a shed and shoot it with a double-barrel shotgun" (or something of that sort), but that's like shooting Morrowind infant son as well.

This, my friend.

And yes, I wholeheartedly agree. It took a firm hand around my heart.

Sorry Arclath, I do usually try to do a two page read through to prevent duplicate threads. I've gotten a bit lazy nowadays.

Not a worry, my friend - it's good to see a fellow Morrowind - Telvanni supporter. :foodndrink:

I thought the journal was written by his father, not mother, though I don't have the journal anymore. Apparently the infant was taken onto the ship by his wet-nurse, who left a note at the beginning of the journal.

I can see now that I don't want to do the Thief quests if framing him is going to be required of my character. I liked the quest to find his origins.

Oh god... The horror.... The pain...

At least we can hope for DLC to involve the great houses a little bit. I know I will!

What do you expect, when an entire race is enslaved for centuries and finally gets the whip hand over the Dunmer? I have a lot of sympathy for the Dunmer too, though.

In Keyes' novels, though, it sounded to me as if the Argonian settlement of Morrowind after the Red Year was half-hearted at best. An Argonian village is mentioned as being wiped out by Umbriel, but it's not a city if I remember right.
