trolls have three eyes?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:22 am

Is there a specific reason for this? I can't find an explantion for the third eye on TES wiki. Is the third eye just there so that trolls don't look like gorillas?

Dunno; just "because", as far as I know. They were like that in Oblivion, too.

yep,. So they can murder you in the face faster. I have come to hate frost trolls, unless i am high up and they can't get me while I pepper them with arrows and they throw gorilla-rage tantrums. Heh. But if I run into a frost troll on the ground, with no chance for cover, they are bastards.

What's even more fun, whenever I get to a platform where they can't reach me, they decide to run away behind some rock so that my spells and arrows can't hit them.

...one that perhaps would show itself upon the way they battle, move, search for food, etc. If they're 3-eyed, perhaps they see better, or have night -vision, or can spot you from miles away. This kind of explanation.

Incidentally, trolls are probably the most notoriois failure in the animation department. They're stiff as a submarine, frantically swinging their arms while the torso remais calm and collected like an English gentleman would.

Could be a parietal eye, like some lizards and frogs and stuff have in reality. Iguanas and such use it to detect changes in luminosity above their heads, so that they can avoid being jumped. Just pulling theories out of my :spotted owl: here, but who knows.

This morning I easily beat a frost troll with only my sword and shield... no healing potions or spells

Frost troll one on one isn't a complete slaughter as long as your warrior blocks effectively, since you'll be absorbing most of the damage. But facing multiple trolls is a nightmare, especially if theres more than two of em. For mages and more stealthy characters out there, its a different ball game.

My lvl 52 Nord kills em so fast on adept.

Anyway, trolls apparently just evolved with 3 eyes. Maybe they have thermal vision like Predator. I doubt it cuase theyre not hard to surprise.

My dual wielding Warrior pimp slaps Frost trolls - and most things. Comes down to character build.

I think they have a third eye because the artist liked that design best. I've not seen any actual lore about it.

There's a troll hunting book in Skyrim, but that doesn't make mention of their three-eyed-ness (or their vision in general), as far as I can recall. My guess is it's nothing specific, just part of their generally monstrous design.

Blasting them off of mountains with Thu'um is quite satisfying, though.
