two-hander swing time bug

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:14 am

Hello everybody,

I've read, that greatswords should be faster than battleaxes and battleaxes should be faster than warhammers, in order to compensate the damage per hit. (Damage-wise warhammers > battleaxes > greatswords , if the numbers shown in the game are correct)
The reason for this is, that all 3 weapon types should have roughly the same damage per second.

In the game however, I came to the startling conclusion, that battleaxes and greatswords have exactly the same speed. Warhammers are slower than both (as intended I guess).
Greatswords need to be faster than battleaxes, or their damage should be raised to the same level as battleaxes; (Or make battleaxes slower or decrease their damage - whatever works best for the linear model, that you are using).

Is this a bug or is it intended and somebody just forgot to rewrite that ingame text that states that greatsword are faster than battleaxes?

Thanks in advance and great game :)

I think the same is true of non-dagger one-handers. It doesn't really matter, though, because with melee weapons any difficulty is pretty easy as long as you aren't careless about things way above your level.

Your right there Shuumbar ... game is far too easy.

But nonetheless this swing time thing really annoys me
I did some more testing and came to those empiric numbers:

Swing time for Greatswords and Battleaxes: ~ 1.1 seconds
Swing time for Warhammers: ~ 1.3 seconds

I don't know if swing time varies due to weapon material (iron, steel ...) or the level of 2-handed skill.
Therefore these numbers aren't necessarily true for every level and gear. Just for the level of gear and two-handed skill my char has atm.

Right now battleaxes have roughly 5 % more dps (damage per second) than warhammers and greatswords (warhammers and greatswords have roughly the same dps atm).
All of this is not considering perks.
So without specialization perks battleaxes are stronger than warhammers and greatswords atm ... which really annoys me >.<

i actually love the 2 handed swords... i use them...
and i kick ass in this game and im on expert..
although the swing is slow it feels more realistic to me.... it gives u the feeling that they are massive weapons
