When i try to do the "Cast Fear Spell" at the College of Winterhold with Faralda. The dialogue at the end only gives me 2 options. The 1st is to try and persuade Faralda to let me in, which she says NO to and then she says OK show me you can cast the Fear Spell, i say ok and then the next dialogue that comes up is " Not at the moment, thanks"?????.

So next i just try to use the Fear spell in front of her or on the circle stone near her but she and the guards just end up attacking me!!

What have i done wrong?

Why wont it do it, i cant get in the College of winterhold without showing her the Fear spell but there is no option to let me do it!!

Help.

If the guards are attacking you, you are not using it on the circle. You're using it on a person.

Tried both. Nothing happens apart from getting attacked if i direct it at Faralda or direct the other way and she just stands there doing nothing!!

I tried getting into the College with my Redguard at low level. I got the fear spell from her, but I couldn't cast it because I only had 100 magicka in it required 135. I had to keep reloading an earlier save (after the first reload I made a quicksave right before talking to her) to get another option of what to cast.

My first character was asked to cast firebolt so I picked it up early with my Redguard and then she asks for a fear spell. Finally, after several reloads she asked me to cast Healing Hands on her (she sold me the spell for 30gold) and I was in.

Don't know why you are getting that wierd option, but since it is probably a glitch you might need to reload a previous save.

I have done quite a lot of other quests since this one ( becasue i couldnt work out what was happening so thought i would come back to it) so if i load an earlier save will i lose all stuff i have done after??

with all the problems I see people having I am glad they asked me to cast a mage light spell.

This question strikes me as really strange. Really phenomenally strange. Yes, if you load an older save you will lose everything that occurred after that save. That should be obvious.

This is introducing the possibility that you could be making an obvious mistake. Can we get a screenshot of the dialogue options available to you? Can we also get a screenshot of what you're targeting the spell on with the quickselect menu up so that I can see the specific spell you're equipped with?
