Cherry Bombs & Egg Timers...

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 8:03 am

It's all in the title. I have searched LOADS of buildings and have only found two Eggtimers and about five Cherry Bombs!

Does anybody know the best place to find these? In Fallout 3 you could find Cherry Bombs in pretty much every toilet in the game but I have found next to none in New Vegas. Any ideas?

110 hour playthrough, all locations discovered and I've only found ~30 cherry bombs.

I often find egg timers in explosives crates which are often found in mines. I sometimes also come acros them in dumpsters.

Vipers sometimes have egg timers. Very rarely though.

I get them more from shops and traders than anything else. Always check thier misc stuff for things like this and cheap scrap metal for lead.

I agree, cherry bombs are hard to find. I only got to make one bottlecap mine with a few cherries left over and that is after two full playthroughs. There has to be a stash somewhere.

This - careful shopping yields better results for the KEY (hardest to find) ingredients

If you want to actually manufacture things in this game you need to become the ultimate hoarder because every recipe takes tons and tons of rare ingredients to make...

there are way to few IMO i loved bottlecap mines in FO3 but i dont remember them taking 5 to make one mine though? C4 is fun as well i think . Now im still waiting for a game that will let you place multiple charges and set them off at different times sigh. Maybe one day.

Sixty hours and I've found about six cherry bombs. I found egg timers on some random enemies.

I remember stealing some from Nellis air force base. I think it was in Loyal's house.

I beleive Saints Row 2 will let you place loads of C4 and then you detonate them individually. When using cheats you can have like 30 C4 all going off seperately.

Yes, it is available on PC. It's a spinoff from the GTA series. Somethings are better and some things are worse IMO.

Mainly better in my mind, the game is also on Xbox360 and I think PS3.

Anyways back on topic, I have played the game all the way through without ever finding the necessary amount of cherry bombs to build a single bottlecap mine.

I found about 5 CB's in the nellis mess hall in the corner on some bookshelves, but otherwise, mailboxes, vendors. Egg timers are often in the powder ganger camps.

Yup - I've seen very few cherry bombs around. If you're prepared to steal from ...
Spoiler
the Kings, there are up to about 10 (can't remember exactly) in their hq in Freeside.

When I found 'em, I thought I'd hit the motherlode, as there were more there than I'd accumulated throughout the whole game up to then.

I finally got my Exp skill up to 75 and went to make myself some bottlecap mines, and I was mortified to see it takes FIVE cherry bombs for one mine! Wow, I can make two of them! So not only does it take a very high skill to make one, you can only make a very small amount because of the rarity of the components.

I mean what's the point? Next time I'm not even going to bother.

It does seem crazy that you need five cherry bombs...but can't use those 34 sticks of dynamite I've got.....or that C4....or rig up propellant from all those rounds of ammo to make a powder charge type bomb.

You should be able to make the powerder charges that the powder gangers use. They look like dynamite and a tin can. And ideally it should be something you can do fairly early on like with a skill of 25 (unless you can and I've simply not found the schemetics).

I just don't see the point making the skill requirments so high and the components so rare. Crafting has been more or less rooted in my opinion because of that. You need these things early in the game but you can't make them until much later when you probably won't need them!

Fact: There are more Mini-Nukes in New Vegas than possible Bottlecap Mines.

Yeah, I'm depressed about the total lack of cherry bombs in the NV wasteland. Bottlecap mines used to be cheap and plentiful to make in the DC wasteland. You can find cherry bombs and egg timers in toolboxes, metal boxes, areas where kids are or were for the former, and especially kitchen areas for the latter. Time bombs are a liability compared to bottlecap mines IMO. The only thing I waxed with a time bomb was a ghoul reave in Central Sewer, and I only got close enough to use it without Chud Time/28 Days Later because I was cloaked with a Stealth Boy and snuck up on him.
