Yes, I just got Fallout for the PC. Does anyone still play it? I'm a huge Fallout 3 fan (and New Vegas), but I happen to enjoy FO3 a lot more besides the irons sight (I love the iron sights :celebration: ). I was just wanting to know how well it is compared to Bethesda's FO3. Btw HUGE Bethesda Fan boy! (Mainly cuz FO3 of course).

Welcome to the Forum.

Alot of people still play it :fallout: . There is a huge loyal fan base for Fallout and Fallout 2.

Fallout 1 is nothing like Fallout 3. First I hope you know that the game is Turn based and Isometric. So if you were expecting it to be like Fallout 3, then you will be in for a suprise.

Fallout is a true RPG. You have to think your characters out in advance.

Your actions have consequences so think before you do, don't go around killing everyone.

The game does not hold your hand, there are no quest markers.

Everything has weight.

Perks happen at every three levels, four if you take skilled as a trait.

Things are rare and expensive, you will not just find stimpaks everywhere.

You can't heal crippled limbs with stimpaks.

Drugs have nasty after effects so use with caution.

You can aim of the eyes and groin.

You can kick.

There are multiple endings.

There is a time limit to find the water chip.

Welcome to the Forums!

Fallout 1 is a world different from Fallout 3, its a turn based up down traditional RPG but it does have many more options and power armor is actually strong.

Hope you enjoy it!

Going off of what Sebor13 said. The game has Armour Class and Damage Threshold. So shooting at someone in PA with a 10mm will do crap all and you will die.

You travel through a world map, locations are blacked out, until you find them. There is no fast travel.

ehh, have fun gettin it to run on newer windows, i know on 7 i still get this wierd pixilated menus and blacked out...action menu? not sure what to call it. Any way the games are very hard, combat isn't very...well fun is subjective, but if you liked fallout 3 you may have a hard time gettting into the originals. Agility and intelligence are the top two skills, chrisma is still very unimportant, there used to be a very good guide on the vault, it had lots of good info for starting out

Those should be fixed if you get the right patches. You can also get user made high res patches aswell.

Their are patches so they will run just fine with windows 7. If you get them from steam the patch is already included. So people say.

I have the original copy.
