Starting all over again......again

Post » Sun Oct 04, 2009 10:48 pm

Well, here I am again. Just a week ago, I started a new character (Ganon the Great), who subsequently got warhammered in the face by a female Redguard.

So, now I'm looking at yet another new, Dead is Dead character. I've tried being a mage (Merlin, he was Lv 40 before I accidentally killed his save file :( ),
I've tried being a Spellsword-ish guy (Ganon).

Now, I need a new character type. I want a male character that is durable enough to do the MQ and SI, and stand his ground in the Arena, but isn't a brute killing machine.
If possible, I would like a Khajiit, but will go with anything else except Orc/Redguard/High Elf.

Possibly, I would like a Stealthy build, leaning towards Thief rather than Assasin, but either would do. I don't want a Tank build, but would also happily go with a (as Acadian puts it) Glass Cannon.

So, any help? I just really want a char that can level up quickly (I don't give a clanfear's claw about Efficient Levelling), go through the MQ and survive *lots* of Oblivion Gates (I like dungeon diving them).

Thanks in advance! I promise not to get this one killed as quickly! :)

Oh, BTW, I play Vanilla+SI, mostly. Otherwise, I make my own small mods.

What does glass cannon mean?

Glass = very fragile
Cannon = strong firepower

Anything with high damage output, low health/endurance and who wears little or no armour qualifies as a glass cannon, really.

Just pick the stock thief or assassin class and run with it. One of my favorite characters was a Breton assassin. If you're playing dead-is-dead you may want to invest in some illusion for a panic button, but it has all the tools you'll ever need.

Wow thanks for all the replies guys! Br0sk1, I like your one best, I've gone off Dunmer lately....
Will probably swap block for Mercantile though, to get the best deal from my fence.

BTW, how do I get into the Theif's Guild??? I've forgotten.... :facepalm:
Also, do I need blade to be good with daggers? Are dagger's counted as blades, or are blades only big swords???

blade is any blade: dagger, shortsword, longsword, claymore (I personally prefer shortswords as a backup to my bow). Glad to hear you like my character :) I too just switched it up from the dunmer which is the only race I've ever played even from back in the morrowind days, I had some good times with my old dunmer treasure hunter named "Raveren".

Try a Bosmer Recon Sniper.

Specialization: Stealth

Primary Attributes: Agility, Speed

Major Skills: Alchemy, Illusion, Mysticism, Acrobatics, Light Armor, Marksman, Sneak

Extensive use of Detect Life (use an enchanted item) makes finding your targets pretty easy. Poisons bring them down fast. Invisibility helps to escape from large groups. Frenzy makes large groups reduce their size for you.

This is the build I use for Elberond. It's pretty fun.

That's a glass cannon. :-)

I'm dubious about this meeting the "stand ground in Arena" req. Very light on health and light armor offers practically nothing in the way of protection in early levels. Why pile on Speed (Steed birthsign) at the start? With athletics in minors and light armor in majors good speed raises willl come naturally.

I was just trying to pick a different birthsign than usual (I almost always go with the lady or the thief) :shrug:

I don't really make super informed decisions about making a perfect character class I just pick what I feel my character would be good at, I don't find it fun to just make a character that will be good at everything an near impossible to kill where's the fun in that? I guess I'm just into RPing and realism.

Besides speed is *very* useful with a "glass cannon" when using OOO and I use nGCD+Progress so leveling is a little different.

Btw didn't see the part about the arena and MQ and stuff sorry about that.

for this type of character, I'd pick a healthy dose of their bonus skills, minus Security, then put in Illusion, and Marksman if want to go bow. Use Illusion to frenzy and command enemies for fights, 4 sec command spells are all that is required, and for stealing. Can't go wrong with it. for sign, not a big deal really, thief, warrior, mage or steed would do.
