Please Patch Night.

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:36 pm

For those who don't know "Night eye" is the night vision ability of the Khajiiti Race. As it stands now, you can turn it on and off at will but it auto shuts off after 60 seconds.

The "useless" part of this however is that you can turn it right back on. Theres no magic use, no warm up time, it just shuts off with a loud magical sound. And with Turtle Beach headsets, its extremely loud, far surpassing any dynamic sound thats going on.

So why not just let us have it on continueally? I've been in a lot of situations where you're sneaking up on a guy, trying to figure out where an Giant spider is or perhaps just running through the woods with it on and (ENTER LOUD CRASHING SOUND) and Im blind again. Now I just turn it right back on but is that really neccacary? Frankly that sounds makes me jump everytime I'm in a tense scenerio and its just annoying.

/Rant, sorry. But can we just patch it for conitnual use already (with at will on and off)? Theres really no point to having it turn on an off on a timer.

EDIT: Should be noted I;m on the Xbox so (as mentioned below) if theres a mod, I can't use it.

Sounds like a bug, you're only supposed to be able to use powers once a day.

There is a mod for that. Haven't tried it myself.

Woah really? That sounds really dumb for it to randomly shut off.

I tried a Khajit but I never used Night Eye for more then 60 seconds so I never noticed.
That svcks.

Why? Thats even worse. Its not as powerful as that invisiblity ability in Oblivion and really, you are a cat creature. It basically subs for a torch without being spotted or lossing a hand. Making it continual seems fair considering the other races have continual benefits...and they don't even have to turn theirs on.

Insert sarcastic PC vs Xbox reply here.

Seriously though, that svcks man. I honestly don't see this getting changed any time soon but I understand how it could be annoying as hell. Maybe that annoying sound is and all of the confused half-blind looks are why Nords don't let Khajit into their cities (Unless they happen to be Dragonborn)

Khajits have had a more free then most daily before to compensate for a svcky race power.

If my gamma was any lower day would look like night but I still can see everything without an ounce of trouble and would never need nighteye. I'm really looking forward to a lightning mod like I used in oblivion for darker nights and dungeons.

SNIP

I am suffering the EXACT same thing. Using my Turtle Beach X11, the sound of it turning on and off just screws with my eardrums. Also, that 60 second limit makes no sense. Khajiit need to have 'night-vision' whenever they deem necessary since they are a feline race. This isn't a power. This is a passive trait.

Well, yeah I agree, but on the other hand - why would you need night eye in the first place? I'm "only" at level 31 and I haven't explored that many dungeons yet (mostly mapping out where they are without entering them), but so far I've never felt the need for light or night eye.

I made a Khajiit just to give it a try for once, but the night eye effect was such a turn off I abandoned that character and made something else instead.

No mods for Xbox 360. That's a good thing for me cause it keeps me playing the game and not cheating. Cause I'd know I'd cheat if i was on pc

I think Skyrim has the same problem that Oblivion had - the nights aren't dark enough to really need any nighteye or torches. It would be cool if going out at night were actually dangerous to where you needed a torch or nightvision. A night where - without them - you literally could not see more than the tops of trees and mountains.

"Argonians can breathe under water! Kajhits can see at night! Bretons have magicka absorption properties!"

It means nothing if you have to select it as a power to use every single time. I'm a great musician IRL, but I don't have to access my musical abilities for them to run out in the middle of the piece and have to stop and reactivate them. Racial abilities =/= powers, or at least they shouldn't.

This one brings warm tidings to you. ;]

Yeah, I am still loving it though. Being a prowler and summoning dual swords whenever I need them.

Well, I'm not sure how your settings are in game or the contrast on your tv but I've gone into some carverns and dungeons so dark I literally can't see where I'm putting my feet pads...so I make great use of night eye or torches if I can afford lighting myself up. I even have trouble seeing at night, sometimes shooting stumps thinking their trolls or bandits.

My friends think its funny that I do my best to travel in daylight but I do it for good reason.
