I understand that I can buy grand soul gems from mystic emporium and soul trap spells from Edgars discount spells in imperial city .I`ve tried this but am not able to buy what am i doing wrong ? Help please

IIRC neither of them sells Soul Trap, but you can get it from any Mages Guild location. Edgar sells Detect Life though, which you can use if you need to increase Mysticism to 25 (when Soul Trap can be cast).

Not sure about the grand soul gem though, but I'm pretty sure that Calindil does have at least one...maybe he's just out :shrug:

Calindil's generally the most dependable source of soul gems, but all of the guild alchemists sell them too. Their inventories are randomly generated from leveled lists, so a particular vendor might not necessarily have what you want at a particular time. You just have to either keep shopping around or check back in three days.

The basic soul trap spell is sold by Alberic Litte, Alves Uvenim, Delphine Jend, Druja, Selena Orania, Sulinus Vassinus, Thaurron, Trayvond the Redguard and Ungarion. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:List_of_Spells_by_Effect#Soul_Trap By a quick count, I think that works out to at least one mage in each guild hall, plus Ungarion.


It's curious, in looking at that, that Trayvond sells soul trap......

You won't find any Grand Soul Gems for sale until you've reached a certain level, at first the only ones available are the lower end ones. Even when you get to the proper level, they'll be pretty random and rare so you won't be guaranteed to find one in the shops.
