Bethesda, please patch this!

This is kind of a big immersion breaker for me. I got a quest that sent me to kill a group of bandits in a fort. Ok, fine. However, I've been to this fort already on another quest. Sure enough I get to the fort and it's repopulated with enemies. This in itself is a cool idea, I take it to mean that the enemies discovered this vacant fort that I had previously cleared out, and took up residence in it. Great. However, when I get to the bandit leader, it's the same named bandit I had killed during the first quest! Made absolutely no sense. Now, if you're going to have dungeons respawn, you should at least spawn a new enemy in place of the dead named enemies. Even a bandit chief or something would be much better than killing the same guy you've already killed in the past. So, I'm asking that you please add this to the patch that you're working on. It can't be too incredibly difficult to fix. The game just has to recognize which NPCs I've killed already, and make sure to respawn a new enemy in their place instead of respawning the same NPC.

you mean his name wasn't "Bandit chief" ? It was an actual name?

I already encountered some named bandit or mage mini bosses (nice challenging fights for a mage) but unless you want silly names like those of diablo 2 there has to be a finite number of them and i don't want them not to respawn as i don't want to miss those challenges.

Yeah, his name was Khev the Skinner (or something like that). I killed him in a Companions quest, and then he respawned when I got the new quest. I'm pretty sure "Bandit Chief" should have respawned in his place.

I don't mind clearing out a fort or dungeon twice, I really don't. But I'd rather not fight the same named mini-boss at the end. They can keep the challenge by spawning a high level bandit chief or bandit boss there instead of reusing an already dead NPC.

I'm not that uncreative to let similar names break immersion for me, but I suppose it could be irritating if it happens immediately after the last quest.

More then one example of this occuring would be needed, however.

No, it's not the biggest deal ever, but something that should still be patched. Every little bit counts. I know for a fact I would be more likely to return to cleared out dungeons in the future if I know for sure the same exact enemies won't respawn there. Now that I know that named NPCs respawn I'm probably going to avoid going back to cleared out dungeons.

Just use your imagination and pretend the new bandit leader 'stole' the previously dead bandits identity and look. Problem solved.

I suppose that's the best thing to do about it. Or just avoid going back to dungeons I've already cleared out. Either way, it's not a huge deal, but I'd like them to patch it if at all possible..

with how many bugs that are in this game they could easily spend another year patching this thing. Sadly that won't happen.
