This "next attack" bug is still here from FO3!

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:08 pm

I will try to explain this bug. When you click attack, there is a small window time frame that you cant re-attack again. You might think this is working as it should. But this is sandwiched in between the time you are allowed to re-attack.

For example, I melee with a power first. Immediately I press attack again and the next attack is on cue. However if I wait a split second later and hit attack, nothing happens. This bug also applies to jumping. Very easily replicated. Till today I have no clue why would this exist. Why are you allowed to re-attack say 0.5 seconds and 1.5s but not 1s later, after attacking?

I have been experiencing this a lot in New Vegas, it has even lead to my death on several occasions (I probably would have died anyway, but still). I never had this problem in F3 though and it's the same computer :sadvaultboy:

I'm just annoyed you're not "allowed" to jump when going down hill

I've had similar problems to that, where my gun will be full of ammo, and when I click to fire, it just won't. Granted, I have trigger discipline, but that shouldn't delay me the 5-6 seconds that it has on occasions in the middle of a fight. I don't know if it's intentional, a bug, or just lag, but it can be brutal when it happens and I'm surrounded by Legion centurions with powerfists.

I am glad you all noticed this as i was starting to wonder if something was wrong with my game.

Basically with guns like the Hunting Shotgun or Cowboy Repeater, after i reload it takes a few seconds before i can fire. Same exact thing happens if i try to open my pipboy and since i play on hardcoe/hard it results in my death quite alot.

another annoying thing is when you fire all of your rounds your gun automatically reloads and you cannot switch to a sidearm which is very annoying. i know this one is not a bug but still, sometimes switching to a sidearm would be quicker than reloading a shotgun etc.

messed with this a bunch, seems to only happen if you move around during a reload of the single chamber weapons, if you stay stationary with cowboy repeater/revovlers blah blah,im free to shoot and pip and what not, however this is UNACCEPTABLE,

i havent had any issues with melee weapons,
Npcs do not seem to have this problem haha, legion recruit cranking out rounds from his repeater at 200 a minute

also this was not happening before the recent patch released, it seems like this stuff was not happening 3 or 4 days ago, im going to try some stuff to fix this,

not sure geck will help much though

I've had this too, very annoying.

It always seems to happen when I use my Cowboy Repeater, and it got me killed against a bunch of Cazadors.

What you're talking about isn't a bug. It's just that the cooldown time between attacks or reload animations for certain weapons is longer than the animation and sound effect associated with the action.

I notice it the most with lever action rifles, which have a really long reload cooldown. Since you aren't allowed to interrupt a reload, there are always about 2 seconds after the animation and cocking sound finish where you can't open a door, search a corpse, or open your pipboy.

The same is true of slower melee weapons.

I also noticed that after switching ammo type ( I noticed this on the hunting shotgun in particular, it happened to me with other weapons but not quite as much) it wouldn't let me : shoot, aim down sights, bring up my pipboy or loot/activate anything. It is unbelievably annoying since I tend to switch ammo-types alot against different kinds of enemies and then I can't attack for a few seconds, while a group of cazadors is poking me to death. This has resulted in my death quite a few times now (since I also can't bring up my pipboy) and they should really fix this.

I remember that problem from my Unarmed character in Fallout 3. If you get the timing just right you can just keep punching one after the other, but get it slightly wrong and you're punching at about a third the rate. I ended up using VATS a lot with that character for that very reason.

Here's a zany idea: don't swap ammo types in combat.

It would be nice if you could switch off the auto reloading.
