Yep this is what I was trying to point out that Marriage (in Skyrim) is basically anologous to slavery.
There's a huge difference between Medieval Courtship and slavery.
Marriage is far from slavery as well, and im not entirely certain on how you actually can even link the two together in skyrim.
At no point before or after the marriage are you telling the person to do things, or demanding for that matter, you are actually asking the person.
Even before you get married you ask the person if that person is interested in you, the person then obviously says yes because that is how the entire conversation has been programmed if you are wearing the amulet of mara, if you have done a quest to make them your friend.
Obviously having that person then sitting at home doing "chores" or whatever those NPC now might be doing, does by no means actually relate to any form of slavery, even if you marry a follower you're still able to get them to follow you.
It's an agreement on both sides to live together for the rest of their lives, doesn't make it slavery.
If it was slavery it would be forced, and in general make the life of one of the sides unbearable to an extend where you'd most likely call it slavery.
Slavery = no freedom
marriage doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have freedom.
