is there a "Compatible mod list"?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:40 am

hi all.

I spent a few minutes looking around for a list of mods that someone found were compatible with each other. I could not find such a list.

I suspect that the "mega mods" might be a good option but I want to pick and choose between my mods.

There are Oblivion mod lists, where "all" are used to play well together, I was just wondering if there was a fairly currant one for Morrwind?!

thanks..freestone

The only list of that kind I know of, is BTB's modlist. (Ninja'd by Mr Smit)
But imo, it's often simpler to just stack all the plugins in one folder, run a conflict detector (I use TESTool) and see what bumps with what.
Then you can decide if you trash a mod or try to tweak it a bit.

I'm pretty sure that http://arcimaestroantares.webs.com/suggestedmods.htm is fully compatible.
Same with http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1155980-povuholos-tomorrowind-a-mod-recommendations-list-for-today/

I agree that "picking and choosing" individual mods is a lot more fun than installing a mega-pack... and usually, it's pretty obvious to see which mods are going to conflict.
At least it's easy to see the game-breaking conflicts. You might get some landscape tears or object melts, but nothing that isn't easy to fix or work around.

Hi, freestone! Glad to see you back. What kinds of mods are you interested in? I can give you a list of compatible mods in different categories that I've used in my games over the years, if you'd like.

I can only second that, and it is hilarious as well.

Although primarily a modders resource utility, MMGUM (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6000) will provide you with a listing of many of the mods that use the same worldspace. You can then determine which mods have the opportunity to overlap and create conflict with other mods. It has been awhile since last updated but many of the most popular mods are included.

Protip: only install one mod at a time. Install it -> then test it ingame to make sure all components work and no obvious things get screwed up.

Eventually you might even get into the habit of sneaking a look at the mod in the CS to see what things are REALLY changed; to guage how skilled the modder was. Some people make good mods, but seem to dirty other irrelevent references up, etc etc without bothering to clean it.

Install -> test -> enjoyyourself
