Flying Mammoths?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 5:52 pm

When i wander the big tundras i often notice Mammoths falling from the sky and then dying... I always think "what the hell?"
Did anyone experience this? It's kinda funny. :)

The game does seem to "drop" creatures and things.

Nothing has died yet as a result but I did see a Mammoth drop into place once and there is a nearby dragon skeleton that seems to be "dropped" into place rather than stayinb put whenever I pass a certain area.

I only noticed this with the Mammoths so far... they look so desperate when trying to survive that fall.. but it never works..

Turns out Dumbo never lost his abilities....

Edit: I actually called that number above.

The person on the other end was VERY rude.

I've seen chickens and other critters fall from the sky as well.
I hope it is not a glitched "editor placement which has them not placed at ground level.

Funny part was first time I saw it I remembered the flying Deathclaw glitch in Fallout 3 :)

It seems to be a feature the game uses to manage items in an area.

When you're supposed to be near enough to see some of these things the program "drops" them into place.

I've seen it with a Mammoth, but it was a small drop and it did not kill it.

The skeleton of the first dragon you slay behaves in a similar manner.

Saw the game drop an NPC by the fort near Whiterun. He didn't survive.

Someone needs to make a video of this with R Kelly's 'I believe I can fly' as backing music.

The dragon I killed outside Whiterun's skeleton has teleported up to the Whiterun gate, and often appears in different positions every time I enter or leave. I've had it range from nothing but the skull poking out of the floor, to the entire skeleton suspended over the gate like a huge trophy.

I saw a Mammoth dropping onto a Dragon - both survived - the Dragon was flailing around trying to take off again and the Mammoth looked rather attracted to the Dragon

I've seen this happen several times now, but i does not seem to be connected to them "falling into existence" all the time. The first time two wolves attacked a mammoth, the mammoth killed them an then 3..2...1...liftoff. I don't know, may they eat too much beans.

Yup, was heading to one of those old ruins when something blocked the sunlight...*splash*. I was confused for a while but got a good laugh out of it :D

Also had a certain dragon gliched at the throat of the world when I interacted with it while it was ready take off again....he just kept going upwards tornado like untill he disappeared too far up in the sky O.O After a while it came crashing down like a missile

42!

I have this in Winterhold.
A dragon skeleton sometimes falls on the bridge to the college, but ususally when I arrive I see it falling beside it and end up way below on the shore.

Don't worry, plenty of people get that reference. Except that it should be a sperm whale.

Ok, this means war! Today I was almost crushed by a falling Mammoth. I used quick travel and when I arrived I only saw a shadow and that thing landed right in front of me. The funny thing is that normally there are no Mammoths in that region. I did see a Dragon flying away. I'm sure he picked it up somewhere and tried to kill me with it.

Edit: A friend of mine took this screenshot.
