Daedric drop mod

I just wanted to throw out this idea I had and made into a small mod. It is basically a balance/economy mod, to reduce loot at the higher lvls of the game.

So, I removed all weapon drops from Dremoras and Dremora Lords. Learned some scripting from scratch (Stole some code more like it, I think it was Wakim's) and made the weapons disappear on death, just like the creatures themselves. Gave them new levelled lists with only daedric weapons, for "realism" and also added challenge.

This removes an important source of end game loot completely, and makes daedric weaponry extremely rare. Hand placed copies seems to already exist for all weapons. Now, I left Golden Saints as they were, mostly because they don't disappear on death. But they are a bit rarer so I think it could work out good. Removed their daedric items from levelled lists and gave them ebony/glass axes which they never had. This makes the ebony/glass weapons a bit better as a real alternative as well, as they are still findable in "random encounters" with Saints.

Don't know if anyone care about economy/balance issues, but after thinking a good deal about how I wanted to do it for my own game I just wanted to SHARE SOME THOUGHTS.

Balance is important - feeling there's a reward can be good too - I don't mind a reduction in loot drops - I mean what can you do with all this junk anyway - but i would still like a reward - even if it was an incremental fame counter - eg kill 10 Dremora lords get a fame increase - or perhaps a low random chance of getting their weapon

In my personal edit of Morrowind Advanced, I do the same thing by giving Dremora and Daedra Lords bound weapon abilities. It works quite well, I've found.

BTB, didn't you address this somewhat in your Game Improvements mod? Maybe I'm tripping.

It's hugely ridiculous that you can farm Dai-Katanas worth 120,000 gold so I think most longtime players appreciate this type of mod. I think Saint/Dremora farming is the biggest gold faucet in the game.

They also appear in some other loot lists. One day, I found TWO daedric dai-katanas in the same bandit cave, defended by bandits with chitin and iron crap.

For Golden Saints, there's a lovely replacer by Westly. Make a patch to reduce the prices of their unique weapons by a factor of 10 or so.

I have also adressed this issue in rebirth. I simply removed the excellent weapon drops from dremoras. I pretty much think that most leveled lists need some sort of balancing. Nice work :)

Well, I *do* consider my Morrowind Advanced edit to be an honorary plugin for BTBGI...
