Morrowind Mod Manager Keeps Deactivating Mods...

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 12:33 am

the title says it all. for some reason it keeps deactivating certian mods from that MGSO mod thingy. im not sure if they are even updating it anymore since 2009 was the last update on the site IIRC.

Isn't Mod Manager a bad port of Oblivion Mod Manager?

Something is conflicting with what is active ... maybe wrye mash.

Just like with Oblivion and Fallout I use the installer in wrye mash called http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1084204-bain-mod-installation-projects/ <-- a link to the manual I wrote.

It is superior to any other installer I've used on this series of games.

dont know how long its been around.

i used to use a different one years ago that looked like it was written in java and had a simpler interface. ill try MASH BAIN out. i never had any issues with obmm or fomm. its not a huge deal i just have to remember to load the mods again otherwise i get lots of annoying messages.

edit: that brings up another question. should i be using yacobys version of mash or is the regular one good enough. i got the impression hes kind of at a beta stage with his but if its stable and working i just assume use the latest and greatest. :)

further edit: wow that was easy. didnt even bother with the direction i just went and figured it out on my own. it basically operates the same as obmm the way you can set up a mod. the only problem i had was that i couldnt figure out why it wasnt seeing them when i put them in the install folder (i already know mash put that there after i installed it so it was a logical guess) finally figured out that even though MASH is set for my steam folder it was still looking in C programs etc. my steam is set up on my other harddrive. :) everythings working now and it doesnt deactive my mods so ill be switching.

Yes I use Yacoby's version but I recall the regular (last Wrye version) had BAIN - but for certain Yacoby has made improvements.

Good feedback - BAIN often gets a rap for being complicated when it isn't.

The best thing about it though is being able to visually see overwrites and annealing.

have fun

Yacoby's version is considered beta at the moment, so don't expect things to be working perfectly. But if you want the new features and can live with some crashes, it may be the better choice; personally I haven't tested it yet.

HUh - well it has thrown a few errors with regard to BAIN packages but nothing serious for me and not one crash yet.

Mostly having to do with annealing variations of sub-packages within the same BAIN package.

I'd expect those same errors to be in the wrye version.

I assume we're talking about the port of OBMM 0.8.4 by Timeslip (he used to have the download on his homepage now it just redirects to the OBMM TES Nexus entry). I seem to remember him saying that it was a very quick and dirty conversion but he was the one who did it.

Oh, someone http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26260 it. There's also DW's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Utilities.Detail&id=10 and Macgyver's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Utilities.Detail&id=25.

But, yeah: Wrye Mash

I guess calling that Mod Manager a bad port is unfair. the last time I dallied with Morrowind it was a different version that I saw ported with not all functions working.

This one is better ... not http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32277 better, but it works.

And I installed it - the Mash BAIN is refusing to install a few packages and this was able to install them. Until those BAIN issues are sorted out I will likely keep this too.
