So I just spent 5000 for a new house in whiterun

The biggest waste of gold ever, It's dark, It has cobwebs, and I find other NPC's houses and inn's are much more comfortable and nicer than the houses you can buy, My servant has a nicer room than I do in the house...

Having somewhere to store all those dragon bones is worth it. It's a petty amount of money, it's not like you had to pay out big for it.

Did you not have the option to see the house before buying it?

Also, can't you have that fixed?

I mean I just spent around 19,000 fixing up this one place.

You'll need to spend about 1400 more gold on filling your place in. Check your inventory, it has a book which explains all your options. Go back to the guy, buy the upgrades and soon you'll be http://cf.drafthouse.com/_uploads/images/skyrimhoarder.jpg!

The house without any upgrades with just the one container is worth the 5000.

With all the upgrades its a sixy little house, its my favorite of them all. In the center of the map. its close to the main gate, it got tons of merchants nearby to sell of your loot.

Also, it has holes in the roof (Not nice, considering Skyrim weather!). I agree with the OP, there are much better houses in Whiterun it's a damn shame that the only one available to the player is such a piece of crap

Also, you need to start the MQ to get it so it was a no go for me

They even give you little bits of gold in the furniture! Thou I wish I could put weapons in the weapon rack in a similar way that you can put books in the bookcase.

You can, if it's not bugged (it is for some).
Equip a weapon in your right hand and activate the weapon rack or weapon shields.

I bought the solitude house, but the white run one is definitely more convenient.
