How big is Skyrim?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:58 pm

So I've been running around Skyrim the last few... decades it seems and I was curious to know how much larger the Skyrim world is compared to the one in Oblivion/Cyrodill.

I constantly find myself saying "If this were Oblivion, You'd be there now."

lol

Just curiosity, kinda like the huge-ness of the game world.

Yeah I would say about the same size, although skyrim seems to have a lot more dungeons.

Skyrim is a lot denser, and I believe that is the main difference.

Skyrim is bigger, if you want proof just load up a fresh character in oblivion that way you have lower speed and athletics, run from the most southern point of cyrodill to Anvil and time yourself (try and move in a straight line). It shouldn't take more than about 10-15 minutes depending on combat situations.

Load up Skyrim and run from the most southeastern point of the map to the northwestern most point in a straight line without using sprint. It It should take 25-40 minutes depending on combat situations. (took me 40 minutes the first time I did it and about 25 minutes going back to the other end).

Granted, this isn't the end all be all of evidence as to which map is bigger but its should give you a rough idea. Keep in mind that wearing armor will slow you down in both games, so if you do decide to test this yourself then make sure you go in cloth.
