Am i reading this wrong ?

So i live in Barrow Alaska, my internet is... to say the least, slow, close to dial-up on somedays. So naturally i installed Skyrim with steam and then proceeded to go in offline mode so that i can play the game properly.

Just got home from work and i noticed on joystiq.com that there was a steam update. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/22/skyrim-pc-patch-arrives-adds-mandatory-steam-drm-kills-some-tw/

So am i reading this part wrong ? "it prevented the main executable from running without Steam. "DRM,"

Does this mean if i go back online to steam to get the update i will not be able to play Skyrim unless its online ? The statement by the Joystiq article is ambiguous. I just don't want to update if its gonna make me have to play the game online.

Thanks for anyone replying.

It stops people from playing skyrim directly though the .exe. Now you have to launch it through steam - Which I believe, won't affect you in offline mode as you launch it from steam anyway.

I have the internet and my steam achievements aren't working at all. Rather disappointed by it.

Just in case I am wrong backup a copy of your .exe and save it somewhere. So if it does mess up, you can just replace the .exe and play from that :)

I read somewhere that using the console will disable achievements.
