Well, one thing I thought of before the game actually came out - time not freezing in any menu except the "system" menu. Not the map, skills, items, favorites, magic, stats or quests menus - only the system menu should freeze time so that (1) people can pause the game to go pee or get a Coke, but pause it without letting you do anything in terms of gameplay and (2) save the game in peace. But if you wanna check your map, and you're out in the middle of the wilderness, you ought to find a safe spot so that a wolf doesn't jump your ass while you're figuring out what direction to head in. If you're in the middle of a dungeon and you wanna read a book you just found, you ought to pocket it to read someplace safe, so some bandit doesn't walk in the room and skewer you while you've got your nose in a book. No more grabbing a bunch of potions to drink and restore your health/magic/whatever while time is frozen in the middle of combat. No more freezing time to change armor or weapons in the middle of combat. Configure your hotkeys to do what you want quickly without going into a menu.

I have to disagree with the eating question, though. I can't imagine anything more annoying than having to carry and/or find food to eat while on a long quest. If they did that they better make some MREs so I can satisfy the requirement while eating once a day.

Now this would require an interface who was practical and not something you have to fight with.
You can not pause WOW at all however it works well as you can assign any spell or item to any key with an simple system.
If you are a bit more advanced you can make macros.

No pausing with the existing system and you would get mad pretty fast trying to sort through you inventory for an potion then finding that you have none and have to exit and reenter the magic menu.
In WOW the action bar show the number of potions you have hot keyed.
Yes I know WOW uses an totally different control system.

It would only improve the game, maybe the radiation meter could be a poison/disease meter instead

The problem I have with most so-called "realism" mods is this: they merely penalize my character. That's not interesting to me. If I'm going to pay attention to this stuff I want to be rewarded for my effort as well as penalized.

Another problem: realism mods tend to affect only the player character. Personally, I don't like being the only actor in the game who has to play by these special rules. If I have to do it, then I think everyone should have to do it.

I have not played FO:NV so I don't know how its "hardcoe Mode" worked. But if it was anything like what I described above I'd vote no.

I like the idea of needing to eat, drink and sleep but I didn't like hardcoe mode and similar mods in oblivion because they were simply not very fun, IMO. If there were a better mechanic for it, rather than eating just to dispell a debuff, it would work better. Maybe just add a buff to the foods, or the ability to establish a 'camp' where all of these things are done automatically if they're in the inventory.

Buff and debuff is pretty similar, no reason not to use an powerful, long term and cheap buff.
Focus in Skyrim would have to be totally different from New Vegas, water is everywhere, yes in real life you can build an campfire and melt snow, you would also carry an sleeping bag if you knew you would be out many days. However you might get attacked.
Food is also pretty common, cold is more a question of dressing up, no you do not want to jump in a freezing river.

I didn't realize simply adding my vote was whining.

I hope it didn't upset you too much that someone posted saying "no" for his vote, are you okay?

I just find it ludicrous that adding a hunger and thirst meter somehow makes a game "hardcoe."

They do not "penalize" you and reward is your life, what bigger reward can there be? :D
Most of the NPC's are eating and sleeping anyway, why should only player character be the one who can function months without food or sleep?

In any case it would be optional, like in F:NV was, and it would be turned off by default.

Hell yeah i`m up for HC mode on Skyrim. Loved it in NV and it actually gave me a reason to learn those recipes in the game :)

This would actually add consequences to the Role-playing experience. :)
I often forget to eat meals at the proper time and yet there are no penalties...

The not freezing bit on the favourites would be highly impractical on console versions as we don't have a million hot keys. We have to rely on the favourites menu to cycle through spells and weapons.
