Reset practice locks

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:48 pm

i have unlocked all the practice locks in the thieves guild but have yet to have them reset. are they supposed to reset. i thought Niruin reset them, it has been about 3 days real time. also i took all the items out all the chests. right now i'm putting an item in each chest and giving it more time, and finding other locks to practice with.
thanks

After I unlocked them I checked them periodically, and they never got reset in my game. I'd say I unlocked them around 40 hours in and I checked them again around 90 hours into my character and they were still open. :(

I never used them since I was afraid they were little more than lockpick sinks and I didn't feel like wasting them for no reason. :)

If you are playing on PC you could actually open the console I suppose and click each chest and type lock (I think that's the command) to reset the locks yourself. I never bothered to do it because it just wasn't too big a deal for me, so many chests in dungeons to open anyway.

I don't think that 'reset' actually means that those chest will be locked again, rather the correct position for pick will change after you break a pick. Anyway, one good option to practice lockpick is to break into a house right after it has been locked at night and get caught. after you get out after hearing the owner warning you, they will replace the lock and you can repeat.

Some of mine locked again when I checked back, but not all of them. Someone in the room kept telling me that I should not be here though so I left. When I returned it was much further down the thieves guild questline so maybe it is linked to that rather than general playtime?
