Altar Blessings

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:06 am

When you get a blessing, how can you see what it does in game? I thought it would be under "active effects" in the magic list but it isn't. I've needed to use Google for that >_>

Also, the wikis say the blessing last for 8 hours. Yet in game, they seem to last forever. For example you can get the Talos blessing from the Talos altar in Whiterun (behind the preacher) and notice how all your shout cooldowns are reduced. If you wait >8 hours and check again, your shout durations are still reduced when I thought the blessing would have disappeared by then.

Is this a bug or are blessing supposed to be permanent until you replace them with another one? Personally I don't mind a 40% reduction on my shouts at all times :P (blessing + amulet).

It's supposed to be 8 hours, but they do seem to last forever. I wouldn't be shocked if it was 8 hours real time as I was playing this morning and blew through a couple ingame days and the blessing was still there, but down to 4 hours remaining.

I think it tells you when up in the upper left hand corner when you receive it

It's 8 hours, but 8 hours of play time, not 8 hours of in-game time.

Umm, they ARE in the active effects list. Are you sure you looked in the right place?

That makes sense.

edit: nevermind I found it... I thought it would be called "Blessing of Talos" not "Fortify Shouts." Thanks.

Strangely enough it says it reduces the cooldown by 0% even though it does actually reduce by 20%.

That "cooldown" is likely one of the bugs being fixed in the upcoming patch. I hope.

Are the stones with the hole in them the same as the altars? What I mean to ask is, if I get a blessing from a stone, does praying to the altar of Talos remove the stone's blessing? I keep accidentally touching the altars, and having to reload to keep my stone-blessings...
