Is Conjure Familiar always a wolf? : V - Skyrim

It is a really terrible spell to begin with, most enemies will destroy it in 1-2 hits.

Um... Yeah, that's why I was hoping it would get better as I leveled my Conjuration skill.

Yeah, no kidding. I was hoping it would go to a bear or saber-cat as I increased my conjuration skill.

This is something I'm looking to mod. Want to try and add in stuff like spriggans and wisps for more druid style characters too.

Playing as a Breton I started with this spell which I found pretty useful during those low levels in Riverwood but once I got to Whiterun I purchased the Atronach and never used the familiar again.
