The Official "Falcor" Thread

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:52 am

This is the Official Thread to my Mod, "Falcor".

Plot:
Falcor is a war torn island south of Anvil only accessible by boat. There are constant threats of Barbarians and other dangerous Factions who will do anything to take over the beautiful city of Falcor. You must help the the King, weather it's making an alliance with another town to defending the walls of Falcor itself to overthrow those who are evil. There is a horrible movie about a dragon named Falcor. This mod has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with that terrible movie, but I didn't know about the movie, just using the same name for the island.

Setting:
Falcor takes place in a new worldspace, where you must take a boat from Anvil to get there. Falcor is located on an island with beautiful, evergreen trees, luscious mountains, and breathtaking rivers and waterfalls. The island has an overall fresh, outdoorsy, happy feel to it (I never liked dark, depressing landscapes).

What you can do to help the mod.

All I have for now is the map layout and the main storyline of Falcor. Anyone can help this mod out. Ideas are very much appreciated, feel free to post them here.

If you are an experienced modder, you can definitely join the team. I'm looking for the following type of modders:

Scripter:
Someone who can make some pretty decent sized quests and what not using scripts.

NPC Creator/Grid Pather
A modder who can make a unique armor set for each town along with all the guards and citizens, and successfully make them function in the city.

Interior Designer
Pretty basic, just decoration interior buildings/forts/caves.

I don't know how to make LOD, but I think I can figure out how to do later, don't really need worry about it until the end.

What I Have as of Now (Will be Updated)

I'll post all the new pics/videos here. Everything is still a work in progress FYI. You can also http://www.oblivionfalcormod.webs.com/

That's All for Now...
I'm going to start back up on the mod. I thought Halo Reach was going to keep me busy, but that game is complete garbage. So, I guess you can say I'm back. Still looking for modders to help out.

Cheers,

You must show me some mods you've completed and verify that they are yours, and also need to be outstandingly beautiful and detailed to be on the team.

Proof. Oy.

I wish you luck and hope your mod does well. :D

Well the sarcasm stems from a virtual unknown creating a WIP thread for said fantastic mod of awesomeness and demanding the best of the best modders jump through his hoops to maybe join his team. :lmao: I'm thinking there must be a more diplomatic way to beg for the help you need to finish this.

All the best finding them. :foodndrink:

Ya, I don't really expect anyone who would actually want to help out, well, at least until the mod is just more than a castle...

That's kind of why I mad this post was to get some ideas from the community to make quests.
Yes, you can own the castle in the end.
And god, thatd be amazing to fly falcor

Updated as of 8/21/10.

Got new pics up on the website if interested (http://oblivionfalcormod.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=9681972).
The streets will have A LOT more clutter, to make it not look so boring like in the photos.

Hey jessebannon,

I've been seeing a lot of these "new lands" mods lately. Wonder if it's a trend?

First of all, please refrain from making multiple threads for one mod. Moderators don't like it, readers get annoyed, everything goes wrong. If you're going to make a new thread, there should probably be a very good reason for it. (Believe me, I do make several threads on mods occasionally).

Next, I see one huge problem that I see a lot with these kinds of mods. The main reason that people aren't joining your team. And the same reason that people may not understand the mod very well. What this mod needs is a unique quality that will set it apart from other mods. For example, Deadly Reflexes has some pretty wicked moves that you will never see anywhere else. On the other hand, your mod (from what we see) is a castle with beautiful landscaping. Nice, but it looks far too generic and easily passed over.

What I would suggest doing is spilling all your thoughts down into your topics. Tell people exactly what you think, when you think it. People will begin to understand teh mod you're trying to create and why it's so unique.

Oh, and finally, if you're worried about not getting much support about this mod, don't fret and make new threads. A lot of forum browsers dont' respond to threads unless they have something to complain about or have a technical problem with the mod. As the wiki says, "a silent modder is a happy one".

Good luck, and I hope you succeed!

Ya, kroot and richardrocket, you guys are right.
I should just wait until I have a unique, $#!T-ton of work done first, before I expect any big help.
But now I got someone else working on the mod :goodjob:, so things should be rollin' a lot faster.

Thanks for the support guys!
