Cool fight until my weapon disappeared...

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 5:41 am

Is this supposed to be part of the fight or is this a glitch? I'm doing the boss battle in Geirmund Hall (the one with the four platforms, two copies of the boss and the boss) and I'm getting about halfway through and my weapon just disappears. It didn't fall on the ground, it's not in my bag... I don't know wtf happened. Is this supposed to happen in the fight or what?

svcks that I'm still playing on a SDTV because even though it's a pretty big screen, the text that's supposed to be in top left corner is cut off, it says something when my weapon disappears but I have no idea what.

There are monsters that can disarm you with shouts. Usually the weapon falls somewhere near you, though sometimes it can go flying across the room and take some serious hunting to find again.

No it's not, I did that fight thrice and nothing of the sort happened.

The game froze once though.

Edit : Oh well if he has the Disarm shout then maybe it can happen ! But I always kill him crouched behind his sarcophagus, he can't even see me so he doesn't attack !

Hmm perhaps it is a disarm then. That's a bit of a relief, guess I'll have to really search for that mace. Bethesda stop trolling us. :sadvaultboy:

Thanks for the info though. :foodndrink:

Yeah, the higher level draughrs can use dragon shouts as well, with the disarm shout being one of them.

One hit me with a FUS RO DAH and I flew backwards tumbling the whole way down a long hall into the opposite wall. Must've been something like a good 60 feet, the way the distance looked.

You do not take those guys lightly, they will surprise you.

Just trap them behind a solid and use your bow. End game. The A.I is really lame. Same with all enemies. They will try and find a route to reach you, but you just keep them between you and a rock, or coffin or whatever and use the bow. When those ones come up with Disarms shouts, just time it and move left or right so you don't get the full effect. It will not disarm you if your off center from the shout.

So now I'm finding out that in order to be able to unlock Saarthal I have to join the College and do their first quest. That's pretty damn lame, considering the character I'm playing on is not really interested in joining them. Guess I'll have to break character if I want to finish this... :sadvaultboy:

How is it breaking character? Sounds kind of very much like an imitation of real life in character to me.

We don't always work the jobs we want for the pay we wished we'd get.

Sounds like your character has learned that sometimes he has to bend a little for others in order to get what he wants, I'd call that a learning experience and a point of growth!

Why people have such a mentality when it comes to playing an open-ended game like this is beyond me. Take the world for what it is and go along for the ride, don't just expect it to be strictly one way or the other and then fault the game for not somehow predicting your own expectations. That's your perception and a fault of yours, not the game.

I'm reminded of those people who shout at the characters on the movie screen "NO YOU SHOULD GO LEFT IDIOT DON'T GO RIGHT GO LEFT GO LEFT" and somehow try to control how the story played out instead of just taking it for what it was and enjoying the ride.

I would love to punch the designer in the face who thought disarming shouts was a great idea. Had a mob disarm three weapons in 1 minute of combat had to search for 15 minutes to find them.

Rates right up there with the 20 second paralyze every 15 seconds boss.

Well I'm roleplaying a Paladin type who has no interest in magic outside of restoration and the occasional alteration shield. Besides the quest to even get into the College requires me to summon an Atronach or something like that, definitely not something my character would want to dabble in.

You need a total of 4 spells to do the mage quest line. One is a ward, one is frostbite, one is firebolt and flames - no conjuration at all

Just let her know that you're dragonborn, no atronach needed.

I'm playing a vagabond warrior/soldier of fortune type with loose morals.
He doesn't want to get involved with magic either but for the sake of his adopted homeland he had no choice but to do it.

I just acted like a complete jerk in that college and I robbed them blind. ;)

Conflict is the essence of drama, mental as well as physical.
Sometimes sacrifices must be made for the greater good.

My guy doesn't even use restoration. :P

I feel for you, bro... I had to join them and then pretend I was never there. Regarding Geirmund's Hall, Sigdis will disarm you by shouting, which he does like every 3 seconds when He's low on ehalth on master. Anyway, that fight is the most fun I've had, trying to kill him with sword and board and ending up hitting him with random daggers... awesome. It's pretty lame if you kill him with a bow though.

This guy, he gets it.

And I like how you did it, too. Cheeky.

Kind of like how people only think that "evil" characters just kill everything.

I always thought it more evil to pretend to help people, and once their usefulness to me ran its course, brutally kill them.

"You saved the town! Our hero! Hurray!"

"Finally, nice sword! Thanks!"

*horrifying slaughter of said town follows*

"Wait...I already have a better sword than this. Oh well, onto the next town!"
