Mage/Melee

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 1:37 pm

So i've got to about lvl 35 with sword/shield to find out its pretty boring.
Now i want fresh start so i started again.

Was thinking to mix mage/melee and i wanted to know is it good to mix those different style, are they work good on Expert/Master?
Does combination of armor like robes/light/heavy works?

So anyone who plays that style feel free to give some hints/tips.

Now i know this game offers you a lot of options ang gameplay styles,im not just sure if spliting perks in mage/warrior will do god and get adleast some of full potential of both.

"for those who play that style that style"

yeah i know;)

In Morrowind and Oblivion I always did a custom class that I called "Blademage"...

Here's what I recommend...
-Level up One-handed, Destruction, Alteration, Conjuration, and Restoration.
-Ignore Light Armor, Heavy Armor, Block, and Two-Handed
-Spend level ups so that you have a lot of magic, but don't totally skimp on stamina and health.
-Spend perk points on Mage Armor (Alteration), and Respite (Restoration)!!! Respite is important because it lets your healing spells regenerate Stamina as well. Also make sure you are un armored so Mage Armor is more effective.

Okay, here's the technique:
- Always double-cast your best armor spell before a fight, summoning an Atranoch is a goog idea too.
- Use melee attacks while your Magicka regenerates (double casting Mage Armor is expensive).
- While fighting use alternate hand for Ward, Healing, or Destruction... depending on the situation.

Have fun!!!

Oh, this works best with a Breton or Dunmer by the way.

I'm using the mage/melee combo and rarely use armor. I tend to stick with robes and items that boost my magic.

You might want to let your level 35 fighter start using magic exclusively and resort to swords when you run out of magic. Armor does not have any effect on spell casting unlike previous TES games. At the worst, you just start over again like you did. This game was designed to let you change play instead of starting over.

My breton plays similar. Main configuration ist frost storm atronarch left, conjured sword right. I'm also wearing light armor with a circlet (hood looks better but the circlet hat better stats currently...)

Until now i spent all my level ups on health and gain magicka through enchantments.
