"true" iron sight issue

Hi
I'm aware that there are more than 100 bugs/problems and also stability issues, although one thing have been bugging me particularly from the start of the game.
In most guns in the game the "iron sight's" position seemed to be not correlated with the direction the gun actually fired (even when taking spread in consideration).
Still the aiming is fine after switching "iron sight" OFF in settings. I was not 100% sure about it, until I found "Recharger Pistol" and "Plasma Rifle".

"Recharger Pistol" used while crouching shoots in completely diffrent direction than indicated by iron sight (not backword though). The correlation between the "iron sight" and actual point to hit changes when switching from standing position to crouching position, and by that I don't mean the stability of aim (checked with "steady" drug).

"Iron sight" of "Plasma Rifle" seemed to be as fine as it can get in this game, compared to failure with "Recharger Pistol", although after attaching "projectile accelerating" mod it started to shoot more to the left from where the "iron sight" indicated.

Another way to check it was:
1) Switch to 3rd person view (F).
2) Press and hold aim button (RMB).
3) While holding RMB in 3rd person view switch to 1st person view.
4) Now both "iron sight" and crosshair can be seen and their position compared.

Even the movement of "iron sight" does not seem to be correlated in any way with the spread of the gun. That whole "iron sight" stuff could be as well something placed randomly on the screen as long as it doesn't block the view to much.

I can't imagine that it was "something that developers couldn't make right" (opinion I read on Fallout: NV NEXUS).
When switching the "iron sight" OFF the accuracy is getting much better even for the "Varmint Rifle".
It can be switched off and probably a lot of people are just "vatsing" all the way but I watched trailers, have been looking forward to it (as a brilliant addition to "hardcoe mode").

Was I cheated by the commercials and reviews (although some of the reviews mentioned that "it's like aiming through a brick")?
Could it be some problem with graphics (I'm using NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT)?

Regards
Mike

what happens when you don't use 3rd person view at all? 3rd person view is terrible. I currently can't test your theory as fall out new vegas is buggy and won't even load for me but I don't remember there being any major issue with manual aiming of guns. I'll take your word for it though :)

Not sure if it's what you're talking about exactly, but iron sight is known to be a little inaccurate with some weapons - you can compensate by aiming slightly to the left/right etc.

I can't imagine that it was "something that developers couldn't make right" (opinion I read on Fallout: NV NEXUS).

I think there was a thread (or multiple threads) a long while back where Sawyer might have touched upon the topic. But I can't recall, I could be remembering wrong. The Gamebryo engine, however, is old & does have limits.

Thanks for understanding.

I was wondering: maybe they should alter scoping option to become the "iron sight" in order to achive the effect.
Scoping seemed to work good enough in FO3.

I'll try to find some mods.
