This may be a dumb question... but can you trade the pokeradar onto HG?

The pokeradar is a key item...

Yay, I'm trying to hatch my Gible (I hate hatching eggs that require over 10,000 steps )

You do know to keep a Magmar in the party for that, right? Their ability halves the steps needed to hatch eggs.

I've been playing Crystal lately, since I'm too cheap to get one of the remakes. All it's really making me do is want to play the remakes though, so I might have to bite the bullet and order it from Amazon (I think it's only like $32 there). I just got hired for a summer job, so it's not like I'll be short on cash for a while.

Be warned,HGSS Kanto is less then impressive.

Good game overall though, and it's a nice end to the 4th gen..pretty much wraps it up by letting you catch most legendaries including the ones from the 3rd gen.

I haven't played any of the other 4th gen games yet, I mostly want Heart Gold for nostalgia purposes, and to see how I like the new(to me) physical/special split. Seems like it'd make Espeon much better.

EDIT: I also haven't decided on a water pokemon for my crystal team. Right now all I have are Quilava, Golbat, and Eevee. I had been training a Poliwag, but that wasn't working out too well so I'm thinking of someone else. I like Lanturn a lot, maybe I'll use that.

My friend has got the notion that the game cheats. Apparently it has cheated him out of two battles.

One, he was facing some trainer that kept using ice-punch on one of his ice-weak pokemon. The trainer used ice punch 3-4 times in a row, but the move my friend swaps out to some other pokemon strong against ice, it uses another move that was super effective against the pokemon he swapped in. I could see that happening as a fluke, but the second time the game cheated is a bit harder to justify:

He was facing Karen for the second battle set (after Kanto is completed) and he was facing her Weavile, who was using all of its moves. According to him, it used Dark Pulse, Ice Shard, Ice Punch, and Night Shade throughout the battle. That's four moves. And when he switched out for another pokemon, when the Weavile then uses PURSUIT, A FIFTH MOVE. And, when we looked at bulbapedia, Weavile is supposed to have Low Kick, too. So that's six possible moves he could have gotten hit with, if he kept playing. (He turned the game off in anger after that little incident).

Oh wow, I just found out that Crobat doesn't have any good moves in generation 2. :o Ah well, guess I'll ditch him and use it in my Heart Gold.

Yeah it feels kind of small doesn't it? I wonder if that's because it's just a really old design.

Is it easy to get a pokemon you want off of the online trading thing in Heartgold/SoulSilver? I really want Soul Silver version, because I had Silver when I was younger and I like Lugia much more, but HeartGold has all the exclusives I would actually use (Gligar and Growlithe). Would it be easy to get those pokemon?

Would probably be easy to talk someone here into trading you a Gligar,I'd go with the one that has the legendary exclusives you want..

Get HG. They let you catch Lugia in HG also. Same in SS. But be wary. The pokemon mascot opposite your game will be at level 70, and pretty difficult to catch. Took me forever to catch my Lugia in HG without a Masterball. Its doable though. One of my friends was mistakenly believing it impossble... I don't think there is any one pokemon, unless pretty darn obvious, you can't catch. When I say obvious, I mean you can't catch someone elses...

It took me 220 Dusk Balls to catch Giratina my first time.

That's right,220.

Legendaries in general are a pain in the ass.

In HG/SS? I caught my Giratina in Pearl, so its in the defense form.... that is if you're talking about the game I caught mine in. I actually found him fairly easy to catch in Pearl. like 10-15 dusk/ultra balls.

Palkia was an f-ing cheap shot. They make you fight him right after the Galactic fights! wth, that wasn't fair, and I call shenanigans. I used my masterball then, and I felt f-ing justified. I still regret using my Masterball on Ho-oh though...

The legendary birds were meh. Mewtwo was easier than Lugia. I'm working up the patience to catch the dogs and the red Latias/Latios thingie...

I'd just recommend to the legendary catcher: Patience. Vigilance. and Stock. patience for the long slogs, of getting to the pokemon, and the battle. vigilance, making sure to not kill or be killed, or do anything to lose your oppurtunity to cath it. always save before the battle. Finally stock up on pokeballs of the most advanced power. Dusk balls are a must for caves and night. Ultra balls the standby.

I'm envious. Mine will look like a monster caterpillar for a long time to come... I'm going to swindle my friends into trading me a Groudon. and a Dialga... I need them for the "events" or whatever.

Really? Even less so than its seriously reduced form in the originals?

Well at least your Crystal is still capable of saving. My Gold and Silver both lost that ability a few years ago. Stupid cheap internal battery... I had all 251 pokemon on my Silver, too!

Hard to tell since I haven't played the originals in forever, but like I said it feels very small and somewhat short. Even with all the trainers on the paths, you're like "wait I'm already in the next city?"

As for legendaries I have little problem. It's wicked easy when you spam an accuracy reducing attack like SmokeScreen or Flash at the beginning. Really saves your Pokemon some trouble while you set up and then toss Pokeballs.

What else...ah yes the GTS. I like it. I actually used the GTS to get most of the version specific Pokemon I couldn't have in Platinum, and I plan to do so in HeartGold as well. It just takes a little time, depending on the trade, about a day or so. If you get yourself a Feebas you're in the money. Breed those things and then trade them for ANYTHING on the GTS. They're like gold, everybody is trying to get one because it can only be found on ONE water tile in the entire game and it changes randomly. Munchlax and Heracross are also popular ones people want to get (since it's bloody ridiculous to get a 1% Heracross with the Honey in D/P/Pt).

I haven't been keeping up with the pokemon games and the last one I've played was Pokemon Emerald. I have 6 level 100 pokemons from that game: Dragonite, Togetic, Suicune, Latias, Porygon, and Sceptile. I play every now and then since I haven't beaten the Battle Frontier yet.

Oh wow. This is stupid. You need BP for things like EV training items and move tutors, but you only get 3 BP for every 7 battles you fight. What the hell. That's worse than the game corner asking 10,000 coins for every friggin' item and only giving you 20 for a perfect win at the game.

Don't even get xp or money for the battles. What a waste of time. And I'd have to pull like 300 battles just to afford anything. And if you loose ONE battle it's back at square one. They have to be consecutive wins.

I hope Black and White don't pull that crap. I don't even like the Battle Frontier. The Battle Tower is about the only thing I can stand... I don't know why the game needs to shank me so.

The 21st battle is always against Palmer, and if you win you get 20 BP. Also, I think the BP you win is +1 after that, so the 4th go-round you get 4 BP, then 5, etc..
