Do you use Lydia still?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 11:49 pm

I use Mjoll the Lioness from Riften, after recovering grimsever. I sent lydia on home once Mjoll offered her services. She has a MUCH better attitude then everyone's favorite Housecarl :P
She's pretty strong sword and board which compliments my Mage, looks like robocop in her full enchanted dwarven armor :) I've only founud these two companions, can't wait to find more.. 2 mages? mmmmm conjures

I never used her until one difficult fight at the end of a dungeon. I took her along to help me out but during the fight she walked into the path of one of my arrows and was killed. Anyone else have a companion for less time?

Yup, still using her, just cuz I don't have enough gold to hire another follower. (Just bought a house, you see)
But I'd get rid of her whenever I got enough gold to hire a stronger follower (preferably someone from the companion, wanted to get Aela because my character is weak at archery).

Mainly use her when I'm out killing dragons to let her carry the dragon guts.

She is helping me save for a house. I can double my haul with her. I am doing a bunch of side quests around whiterun so I can buy the house and dump some of the dragon parts.

She's actually pretty tough when you give her armor. And since I am melee and usually charge in, she often stays behind with a bow. I suppose if I tiptoe towards foes, she might pull out the 2h hammer I gave her, but by the time I am on top of the enemy, she is 20 paces back and uses the bow. At level 8, she is pretty fierce although I suspect when I level up she will become a pack mule.

I like having Lydia around for raining arrows, setting off floor traps, dual wielding staves, and being a pack mule for me. Them bones and scales are heavy!
Also I'm OTC with Saving so when she dies, I have saves to Resurrect her back to duty. I'd like to play her and any other companion as Dead is Dead, but that will probably be my 3rd or 4th time though the game.

Nope, she started getting weak for some reason, even in full Orcish she was down in a few hits. Started to use the dog and summoned assassin, they gave me away sneaking all the time, so now I roll solo, and I am far better off for it. If worst comes to worst, meaning I am forced into combat and its pretty tricky, I pop out the summoned assassin and he can take a few hits for me.

I accidentally killed her off early-on due to an errant fire-ball. Then I reanimated her corpse only to have her puff into a pile of smoking ash. Whoops.

No, because I killed her on accident.

Along with 3 other followers.

I still travel with her and reload the last save whenever she dies (which is rare). If its possible, I'm even considering asking for her hand in marriage. :hugs:

....if she will have me. :(

Tried using her twice now. First time to go hunt down a giant. Gave her a bow, took her sword and told her to wait in the back and pulled it. Worked out fantastic. Then I took her into a dungeon. oh boy did that go bad. Instead of using the bow I gave her, she would run in and try to punch the enemies to death. Once I sheathed my weapon and then pulled it out again she would go back to using a bow, for a few minutes or until the next encounter. After killing a few things, she actually ran away from me cause her AI couldnt get into the water with me, and when I found her again near the entrance, she had picked up an elven dagger, which she seemed to prefer over the exquisite dwarven bow of thunderbolts she had. Took it away from her, and by the next fight she was again going unarmed, only to pick up and use a crappy iron sword somewhere else at some point. and each time i took a weapon away from her, she let out that damnable snotty "i was sworn you carry your burdans line like a [censored].

gah, no more. screw her, she can sit at home.

She died in a dungeon inhabited by mages (tough ones at my level 14) on our way to Stony Creek. Oh well. I'm just gonna have to find another pack mule/dragon decoy I guess. :whistling:

I started one character, got up to lvl 23 or so and then switched chars... up to lvl11 and Lydia died by my hands both times... lol

First time, I stepped out of High Gate with my newly acquired StormCall shout and proceeded to fry her like bacon... second go around, during the redguard woman mission, I nuked the room with a scroll of firestorm and she got roasted. I don't like jumping back to earlier saves unless something that will truly effect the game happens so I just let it be.

Jenassa, all the way. (The dunmer in Whiterun, who talks about "great art" when you first meet her.)

Though -- minor spoiler warning for random dialog!!! -- she often yells "Nerevar guide me!" which is pretty funny, because I'm using the same character I've started all TES games with, including Morrowind. (KSG the amoral dunmer archer with sociopathic tendencies and a compulsive need to do anything she's asked to. It's a perfectly legitimate role-playing choice.) It's funniest when she's doing the opposite of what I want. I'm just like...no. No, I will not guide you. Have fun doing that.

Anyway, they're not pointless. Once I have all the achievements, and am no longer afraid to use the console to make my maximum encumbrance five digits, THEN they will be pointless. :P May still hire them all just to hear the stuff they say, though.

Lydia is just that stranger who lives in my house.

I found campanions to be too helpful... and get in the way. It's more fun for me to be the hero. I take companions that quests give me, for that quest, but am glad when they go on their way.
