"We will all go together" Quest

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:58 pm

Usually I do not give up on quests, but I looked throught the Strat guide a bit, and the wiki, and now I see the reward you get, it's just not worth it. I keep keep getting radiation like crazy and I am using the Sapce Suit to reduce it. I am not having fun with it, and I just reloaded before I stared the game. There goes 1 hour of playing it. So is there an easy way of doing this? I killed like 10 gouls and only got 1 dog tag, and radiation is over 500. For some reason it will not let me run, and I am not over encoumbered.

As I said, I tried this quest for an hour, and once I saw the reward, I can't beleive you have to do all this work for just 250 caps, some lousy gun and a rep gain.

So what can I do to make this easier. I am going through Rad-a-way like crazy and I only have like 9, including the 2 the NPC character gave me.

If I forgo this quest, what is the worst that happens? I don't finish the quest? By not finishing this quest, it will not affect anything else will it?

I was in that heavy radiation place forever and it bugged me, but it's hardly undoable. For one, if you're lost, you can run around to figure out what comes next, then reload from your last save and go directly to that point, cutting way down on rads. Also, there's a safe (I think- might be a locked first aid box) that has something like 14 RadAways and other stuff. It should be enough as long as you maintain 85% rad resist the whole time.

Don't know what happens if you don't finish, since I'm obsessive. :o

I remember that, yes nasty.
You need RadX of course.
It wasn't so bad with 85% resistance, but still I got rad sickness a couple of times.
You start to panic when RadAway runs low, heheh...
Vodka! (anyone else play s.t.a.l.k.e.r.?)
What else - I think there's a part required for the BoS HVAC maintenance somewhere...?
I hated going underwater in there.
I should have had the Boomer's rebreather, then everything would have been a lot more fun. :P

There are 9 specific ghouls in the town that drop the tags plus a 10th in a house on the outskirts that you have a couple of options as to how you obtain it.

In addition there are more ghouls around but only the 9 specific will have tags.

One thing I did find that made it harder for me was having Boone with me - he dropped the ghouls so well that I didn't even realise - I went back later, assuming it was random which ghouls dropped tag only to find corpses of the tag-droppers that Boone had killed without me knowing lol

start the quest where you go get a radiation suit. it is a quest that starts in searchlight and goes to nipton. with the rad suit and rad x, you should only get poisoned a little. I have not done it on this run through, but I would start the quest with 0 rads...only a 100 bucks and worth it.

I think Gryphon's confusing Camp Searchlight with the radioactive Vault.

Anyway, I'm pretty certain that the ghouls you want are the ones that attack you with combat knives; none of the rest use weapons. They also have armor you can use. So far I have seven tags, which includes the one from the one sane ghoul; I haven't found the others yet. I keep hoping that my overenthusiastic sidekicks didn't kill the damn things leaving me having to waste time and risk excessive rad exposure having to hunt for the corpses. :banghead:

I never finished the quest on my first game but I had most of the tags. I've finished it on my 2nd with no problem.

I have turned "staying ahead of my companions" into a mini game. KSing for fun. It's funny to watch Rex get something practically blown out of his mouth or watch him fly right past a dead gecko thats flying in the other direction. Whizzing shots right past Boone's head. So far Lily is the only one I've managed to shoot in the back of the head, she's kind of hard to miss.

You could go do a couple other quests, level up, get more caps, buy more rad-away, and come back.
But to answer your question...it doesn't affect the main plot. I think it gives you NCR rep, and the guy who gives you this quest also gives you a couple others if you travel past Searchlight to discover another town beyond it. So...if you don't care about NCR rep that much, no biggie.

And yea, take radx PLUS wear the rad. suit PLUS rad-away now and then. It's not too bad then. I don't know why you're having such trouble finding the first 9 guys with the tags...usually they're clustered around the main buildings closeish to the road area, for me....easy to find.

I guess I just svck at the game LadyCrimson. :D. Thank you everyone, I will go get some rad X and the rad away. I never thought of using rad X since I thought you get the 1 rad per second anyway, that it wouldn't help. I will try it and see what happens.

Thank you again for all your comments.

Yeah, the rad-x thing confused me too. :)
It'll always say 1/rad second minimum, but with high resistance it's actually a lot slower. Never 0, but the speed your actual radiation number increases slows down a lot. Far as I can tell, the rad-x doesn't stack, but one of those plus suit = fair resistance, even with a lowish medicine skill.

I made a mod that makes 1000 rads a horrible inconvenience but doesn't kill you outright. It changes the health drain from 10000/sec to 1/sec (or with the Rad Child perk, replaces it with +10hp/sec), cripples all your limbs permanently (at least, permanent while irradiated 1000+) and reduces your carry weight to 0. It makes quests like this doable, if difficult, without radiation protection. I haven't tested if you need more than one radiation cleansing from a doctor if your rads are over 1000 - this mod does nothing to prevent accumulation beyond 1000, making it potentially problematic to get back to town and get healed.
