Since when am I a criminal?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:04 am

Okay, last time I checked, I've committed NO crimes, killed NO innocent people, and stolen NOTHING (besides a journal I had to take for a quest). But all of a sudden, I'm in Morthal, and a bunch of hired thugs come at me. Upon looting their bodies, I find that they were sent by..

*MINOR SPOILERS*

,,Bergritta (or whatever) Battle-Born, who I took the journal from, for a quest in Whiterun. So that's understandable. But I check my crimes just to make sure, and I see Total Lifetime Bounty: 5080, Largest Bounty: 4040. And that's.. weird, but okay, maybe thievery is VERY frowned upon in Whiterun, okay. But then I see 56 Assaults? 4 Murders? What in the [censored]? Last time I checked my crimes before today was a few days ago, and most everything was at 0. Is this a glitch?

This is supposed to be my chivalrous, good guy kind of character, so this is kind of annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? And I know for a fact that no one booted up my save while I was asleep or something.

Someone help. D:

You don't have to kill or steal to get a bounty on your head from my experience.
I actually got a bounty 2000 when I shouted after that guard warned me not to shout in cities.

Somewhere somehow you took an item, unintentionally, all it takes is one, that didn't belong to you. Said person thinks you is a thief and puts a bounty upon your poor unsuspecting head. Took me a while to learn that also.

iirc, people send thugs if you pickpocket too much.
i got a bounty of 1 coin today, i don't quite understand why(no one has caught me and i never got any bounty message). Of course i didn't pay 1 coin,i have too many stolen items (so i paid 373 coin for the guard to go away. later, i stole the money back)

It must be a bug or glitch.
I know that pc users can set their bounty to zero with a console command, though I dont know what it is.

Ive had some unexplainable glitches, like failing a quest I couldnt possibly have failed.
I was just walking along solitude and suddenly up pops: quest failed.
Reloading a few times helped that.

I have no idea what causes odd things like this, sorry.

I get that, and I'm not surprised by the thugs, because I DID steal from that lady, heh. xD But, 55 Assaults? 4 Murders? No idea where that came from. :/

My assassin/thief has a 1040 gold bounty on him. No idea why.

Tried to go to the Jarl's guards in jail and pay it off, but it never came up as an option.

Same. Game acts as if I'm a saint (and I am xD), but that bounty's still in my stats..

Assaults? Mine usually come from some stupid guard or towns person stepping between me and whatever I'm taking a swing at. Murders? Think that comes from the factions being messed up someway. I know in Oblivion there were some dungeons I could go in with a clean slate and come out with a murder or two only killing bandits.

Your bouty in different in each Hold, so you need to go to the right guards to pay off your bounty.

Sometimes attacking badguys before they attack you counts as assault, even though you know they'd attack you if given the chance. And I believe chickens still count as witnesses to crime unless they fixed that. Big Brother Cluck is everywhere!

the thing i hate about bounty's is, even when -hidden- guard's know exactly where you are. (ex. your sneaking in town, steal some loot, next thing you know, BAM! a guards on you)

I have like 4 assualts from group combat, not a big deal though

I also turned into a Werewolf and killed those [censored]s trying to go to that stupid wedding and stole their stuff, but that's besides the point lol
