I admit I had to google it to find out what it is!
but to be honest it look like the cliff racer animations could work perfectly fine.
EDIT: not that I know anything about animations! it just looks like it is of similar build of a cliff racer.

A pteranadon? Sounds cool. I know I have a few of your creatures in a WIP of mine, I especially like the raptor but I never found a pteranadon.

was kind of hoping someone had did some work on it, i dont have the model any more
i made it using the udyfryctes model and just moved diferent parts, i had to delete the animations ofc because they wouldnt have worked with the new skeleton
i had some mesh alterations i wanted to do :(

i tried the cliff racer but it didnt have the right parts to make exactly what i wanted tbh, i had planned on making a ground version and a flying version (because you cant make 1 that does both) but had a few issues i needed to sort out and have had many problems and re installs on my computer

Did you maybe give it to Dirnae or Piratelord? I know I never saw it...

are there any groups of animators now or is it still just single people working on their own projects?

I didn't get the model. I wont be able to animate it myself, I'm just too busy atm.

There were a few people animating a while back, but it seems that most of them are no longer able to mod, or have stopped modding. So... no there aren't any groups.
People who can animate creatures atm are me and Archimaestro Anteres AFAIK. I think Axel specialises in animating NPCs.

If you were here a couple of weeks ago I would have also suggested Muspila, who was more experienced than me (he's made 2 creatures from scratch, I've only made 1), but unfortunately he decided he's going quit modding. :(

Anteres, Candlemaster and Muspila have made animation tutorials for Blender, Muspila has made one specifically for creatures, and Anteres and Candlemaster for NPCs.
You could have a look at them and try animating it yourself, if you have time.

nope, wasnt in the red mountain mod, i think antares might have it though - the problem i had before was not being part of a group of animators/creature cobblers, would be much easier to work as a group than on my own especially as im overly rusty now i havent done anything in awhile, i did want to finish that durzog rider aswell and spent weeks on a new type of lizard creature that use the wolfs animations (i was in the process of making the swimming animations for it)

Have you already installed the lates exporter for blender? amorilia did some great work. Now you can import and export the bounding box.

I'd like to see the durzog rider, that is the most interesting of the creatures you were working on.
