Unrelenting Force

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:24 am

You upgrade shouts by unlocking the other words to them. Unrelenting Force's other words are unlocked by doing like the first two quests in the main story.
Spoiler
you unlock "roh" when you meet the Gray Beards and you unlock "Duh" when you finish the quest they give you right after that

Fus Ro Duh?

It's more for getting them into a position that you can take them out. I can kill giants at level 10 with it, for example; hit them with a fully powered Fus Ro Dah, and they fall down for around 10 seconds, generally plenty of time to kill them without even taking any damage yourself.

I killed Lydia with the blunt force impact of the shout once. Also killed a few things by launching them off of clifs.

I use unrelenting force in either close quarters dungeon tunnels to blast away multiple enemies or in duels outside to stagger enemies and cut them down
Also has anyone noticed that shouts like force and fire breath are way more powerful in contained tunnels than outside?
I used fire breath (lvl 1) inside a tunnel and it blasted two bandits 15 feet down the tunnel and killed them instantly, but then against similar level bandits outside it just staggered them and hardly did any damage like it was being dispersed
if this is the case, its awesome how realistic it is

I've killed a number of ice wolves and trolls from unrelenting force..... not from fall damage, but from close range - they skid across the floor and into the nearest boulder. It does seem slightly random, although I haven't tested it extensively.

I am the Skyrim "Troll". Much as I dislike that word and it being easily spread around, I enter an NPC's house and Fus Ro Dah everything that isn't nailed and book. Mission Accomplished. I only killed people with fall damage or when they had very low HP with that shout.

Only use unrelenting force
If you're "high".

My limited experience with it tells me very little to no damage is done from the shout itself but the objects the NPC's hit as they go flying from it.

My favourite shout.
I find most useful in dungeon Boss fights to knock 'em off thier feet for a few seconds which enables me to get some good strikes in before they get back up.
I also find it just 'buys you a few extra seconds' to think about who/what and how to kill/strike at first amongst multiple opponents

I sent a troll flying down multiple slopes in that wavy road area behind the brewery, and he died. Most satisfying kill yet.

Has anybody actually been able to kill something with it? Even with all three words, it barely does any damage, it's just fun to send people flying with it. The only thing that I ever killed with it(and I have no clue how I did it) was a saber tooth. It was charging at me, used all three words and it went flying back like 20 yards. Never I having killed something with Unrelenting Force before, I quickly ran up to it to kill it before it got back up, only to find the *search* option on its body. Needless to say, I was quite surprised. That is the only time I've managed to kill something with that shout.

I killed two Ice-trolls with it, while at the dragon labrynth I shouted one down while I was on top of that big staircase, and while it wasn't a cliff, he was still tumbling down for long enough time that his health bar depleted while under the influence of the shout.(He couldn't recover his bearing/balance unlike he could on flat land) In other words, the longer they're exposed to the "spell" of the shout the more their health bar suffers.

But this is only speculation..

I had a vindaloo last night... this morning my toilet experienced the true meaning of 'Unrelenting Force'.

Now back to the game in question.

Is this where it comes from in Skyrim? Has the dragon had Mammoth Vindaloo and the result is the phenomonen of 'Unrelenting Force' coming from the beasts posterior?

That was Awesome

I once used the shout and sent a single bandit in a mine flying down a corridor, into a tripwire and a load of rocks crashed down upon him and killed him. That was pretty cool
