Can I play an English game in Germany?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 4:46 am

Hi,
Since Morrowind I preferred to play the english versions (imagine that Skyrim would be Himmelsrand...) and so far it was no problem.
Now, with Steam, if I bought the game in England, would I be able to install and play it properly in Germany (or Poland, Czechia, doesn't really matter)?
Or could I even buy a localized version and run it in English (because of Steam)?
Did anybody try something like that?
Thanks!

I'm not sure about germany as they have some restrictions about games... but otherwise if you change your Steam language then the game's will change to that one as well.

Hi!

I am a German who likes to play his games in English. Thanks to Steam this is not a problem any more: I bought the game in an Austrian Webshop, activated the key in Steam (while the DVD was in my DVD-Rom-Drive), changed the language in the settings to English and finally downloaded the game via Steam. With the same method I was able to play Fallout New Vegas in English as well.

Bought the englisch version, installed from DVD and have englisch language and sound ingame. :) What is important is just to have the englisch text and sound (SBA).

I'd German too, I bought the game from Amazon.co.uk, installed it, activated it on Steam, and now I have it all in English.

Do they ship it for free? Never tried because I couldn't believe it...
If not for free, how much is it?

Unfortunatelly, items sent to places out of the UK do not apply for Amazon's "Super Saver Delivery". I order many DVD's there (Star Trek DS9 e.g.): P&P is GBP 2.27 (~EUR 3,50) for DVD's and games.
