I lost all of my Items!

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 7:16 am

Spoiler Alert! Read at your own risk. (not that it matters)
I lost all of my items after I bought the house Hjerim in Windhelm after completing the mission Blood on the Ice. Then talking to Jorleif about furnishings. He cleaned up the Butchers mess, but all of my items were lost in a chest which was considered his. I understand that what I did was incorrect and that I should have expected that to happen because when I asked Jorleif to "Clean up the mess." he took everything. I just found it ironic that I had to pay 500 Gold to have them take all of my items away that were worth much more than 1000 Gold. I had created another save just to make sure that none of my items would disappear, but when I had done that several times before at different locations, I had just assumed that it would be the same for every place that I went. So i had deleted it because I had trusted in my instincts.

Re-load from an older save? Thats why you have saves.

I had explained that in the entire paragraph (that was poorly written).

Your own fault. I believe there's even a tip that says "you can place items in any container, but unless it's in your house, there's no garentee that it'll be there when you get back!"

Really now. I have also explained that in the paragraph. THAT I UNDERSTAND! I WAS INCORRECT!

All the more reason to have a PC and not a closed console.

Let me quote from page 20 of the user manual:

WARNING: Do not leave things lying around in containers you do not own! They may not be there when you come back for them. Buying a house is one way to own containers.

Unless you mean you DID own the house by this stage, and when you did the furnishing upgrade it removed the container for the blood on the ice story arc which you'd been using*

* You were lucky the items even stayed that long, that is not an owned container!

Interesting. Thanks for the tip. I did not realize that that user manual had information like that(non sarcastically).

Yes I have considered getting a PC because I am also a Novice computer programmer and a gamer. I have argued between my thoughts in getting another computer that may not have all of the games that a console would have and that a PC can be customized to anything you want (depending on how much money you are willing to spend). Not much of an argument though.

Giving a bug a explanation that makes sense RP-wise, sorry I lol'd.

Anyway this bug sounds like the same thing which used to happen in Oblivion, whenever you furnish the house it updates the "cell." Reseting whatever is inside.
