Illusion perk question.

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:10 am

So I'm starting a new character, my old character had 100 illusion but only the perks Novice Illusion, Animage, Kindred Mage and Quiet Casting. The master spell I have, Hysteria, only works on creatures/people up to level 25, which doesn't work on the higher level enemies I face. If was to take Hypnotic Gaze, Aspect of Terror and Rage, what would that 25 for master spells have gone to? Are they worth taking? I imagine the higher enemies aren't affected by illusion spells even with all the perks. Which is crap tbh

Also what is the maximum level for enemies?

Each of the perks raise it by about 10 levels. So with kindred and the center tree it is level 45 creatures it will effect, that is almost anything in the game. Thing is if kindred or aniamage don't apply it is level 35ish. Now dual casting doubles the level, sadly you generally can not dual cast master spells, and the lower level spells will effect high level mobs than hysteria since they can be dual cast.

Ah I thought that only affected duration? Also you could use the illusion potion, I can make 130% illusion potions, but again I thought that was just duration?

Oh do you have to do that stupid charge thing like with the master destruction spells. I only really use illusion for invisibility, do you have to stop combat and wait 5 seconds for the spell to charge like destruction? If your hit by a power attack it interrupts it as well.

I suppose you have invisibility to hide away from combat back into sneaking, then charge the spell, could work.

Ya dual casting actually changes the level that can be affected of Illusion spells.
When my Illusionist was 25 I couldn't one hand Pacify a Dragon Priest but I could do it Dual Casting.

I had hoped the same would be true for restoration and turn undead, sadly no it is not.

Might be able to just cast fear/rout on him. Doesn't light them on fire but they'll still flee. I wonder in Necromage will affect it.
I hope Necromage works on Illusion spells. It does say "All spells are more effective against undead."
I might not have to dual cast the Dragon Priests if it does.

Just used my illusion 130% potion, pacify went up to 47, not bad. But I don't want to have to use a potion every time I use it. Does anyone have all the perks that affect illusion spell strength and use it at a high level?

Oh yeah with the end illusion perk you can fear all undead with dual casting(have not tested it with necromage yet). Just seems lame to me that I can fear undead with illusion better than I can turn them with restoration. The highest undead you can turn is 35 with resotration, with illusion you can get to 30 with one hand 60 when dual cast. And there are undead that crack level 35, quite a few of them in fact.
